During its appearance at this year's Television Critics Association winter press tour, 21st Century Fox's National Geographic Channel announced that its Emmy®-nominated science talk show [*StarTalk*](http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/startalk/), hosted by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, will return for a third season in fall 2016. The series, derived from Tyson's popular podcast of the same name, features Tyson in conversation with comedians, academics, and celebrity guests about how science affects their lives and careers. The third season premiere will also coincide with the release of the first *StarTalk* book, published by National Geographic Books and featuring vivid photography, the latest scientific facts, and quotes from previous and upcoming *StarTalk* guests.

"Science surrounds us daily, infusing civilization in countless ways, and StarTalk's mission is to reveal that intersection," Tyson said. "Our guests are selected from all corners of pop culture, allowing us to explore how their lives and livelihoods have been touched by the moving frontier of science."

Season three guests will include U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo, actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, and *The Walking Dead* creator Robert Kirkman, among others. Previous guests have included President Bill Clinton, President Jimmy Carter, Norman Lear, Christopher Nolan, George Takei, Susan Sarandon, Seth MacFarlane, David Byrne, Larry Wilmore, Arianna Huffington, and more.

"Neil deGrasse Tyson is not only an incredibly accomplished astrophysicist, but also a very gifted communicator who blends pop culture and humor to make science accessible and fun, making him -- and *StarTalk* -- a great fit for National Geographic Channel," said National Geographic Channel Global CEO, Courteney Monroe.

*StarTalk* is recorded in front of a studio audience at the American Museum of Natural History's Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, where Tyson serves as the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium. The series is one of several upcoming programs at Nat Geo that explore the science behind daily life on Earth. In January, the channel will air two specials on national parks as part of its [Power of Parks](http://impact.21cf.com/what/2016/01/national-geographic-powerofparks.html) initiative, a yearlong campaign celebrating the world's national parks. *America's National Parks: Everglades* will air on Sun., Jan. 24, at 8/7c, and *America's National Parks: Gates of the Arctic* will air on Sun., Jan. 31, at 8/7c. Both specials will encore on Nat Geo WILD Sun., Feb. 28, beginning at 8/7c.
