 # Massachusetts Set To Turn Ambitious Targets Into Action With Key Climate Package

July 21, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Ceres Senior Director of State Policy Alli Gold Roberts issued the following statement in response to the Massachusetts Legislature’s approval of a climate bill that will invest in the growth of the state’s renewable energy industry, increase incentives for electric vehicles and advance other clean transportation priorities, and accelerate efforts to decarbonize buildings across the Commonwealth:

> "Last year, Massachusetts set some of the most ambitious climate targets in the country. Today, lawmakers have taken a major step to meeting those legally mandated goals. The investments approved by the legislature today will spur efforts to cut climate pollution across the Commonwealth’s economy, further establish Massachusetts as the national hub for the rapidly growing offshore wind industry, and help companies, consumers, workers, and families flourish in the clean energy economy.

> “To prevent the worst impacts of the climate crisis, build an innovative and sustainable economy, and achieve environmental justice across the U.S., we need action at all levels of both the private and public sectors. States have been critical leaders in building the policy environment these important goals require. Companies and investors have championed the Commonwealth’s approach to climate action because it is bold, pragmatic, and good for business.

> “We urge Gov. Baker to sign this legislation into law promptly without any vetoes or significant changes and cement his legacy as a leader of bipartisan progress in confronting the climate crisis and building a competitive, innovative, low-carbon economy.”
