DALLAS, May 16, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Can a lipstick, lip gloss, compact or fragrance change lives around the world? Mary Kay doesn’t think so, it knows so. Through the iconic company’s global cause-related marketing program, Beauty that Counts®, customers can make a difference in the lives of women and children simply by purchasing a limited-edition fragrance.

In the United States, from May 16, 2014 through August 15, 2014, $2.50 will be donated from each sale of the limited edition* Beauty that Counts® Journey of Dreams™ Eau du Toilette fragrance to support The Mary Kay Foundation’sSM shelter grant program. The initiative provides funding to women’s shelters across the nation to help survivors of domestic violence begin a journey of recovery. Since the Foundation’s inception, it has awarded $34 million to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence prevention.

“We know from shelter directors that grants from The Mary Kay Foundation help keep the doors open for thousands of women and children who seek shelter from abuse,” said Anne Crews, Vice President of Government Relations for Mary Kay Inc. and a board member for The Mary Kay Foundation. “Each year, grants are awarded to at least one domestic violence shelter in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  With support from this beauty with a cause campaign, we have an opportunity to get one step closer to breaking the cycle of domestic abuse.”

Since Beauty That Counts® began in 2008, Mary Kay has donated nearly $7 million (USD) to organizations worldwide that benefit women and children in countless ways. As a top beauty brand and direct seller in more than 35 markets, Mary Kay markets support local charities benefiting women and children through the Beauty that Counts® program.

“For more than five decades, Mary Kay Inc. has been committed to enriching women’s lives and making a positive community impact,” said Sara Friedman, Vice President of Marketing at Mary Kay Inc. “As a driving force behind the Beauty that Counts® campaign, Mary Kay independent sales force members have sold lipstick, lip gloss and compacts and they will now have the opportunity to help give back through the sale of an unforgettable new, floral fragrance. Together with our independent beauty consultants and our faithful Mary Kay brand lovers, we can make a beautiful difference.”
