Imagine being a stranger in a strange land. Unable to speak the language, unable to easily find food and shelter. These people often feel lost and alone; forced to make a bewildering number of decisions alone.

Now imagine how a digital application could change the situation.

Think what a lifeline it would be to have a mobile phone app available in many languages that could quickly identify local emergency and shelter services. With the app people could find out where to get donated clothing, how to take beginner language classes, and how to get medical assistance.

The potential for technology to break down barriers is limitless. Technology is opening doors to education, employment, financial services, social services, healthcare and more.

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we are committed to accelerating opportunity through our actions and innovations. That’s why we’re proud to launch the Hewlett Packard Enterprise [Living Progress Challenge](http://hpsw.co/XZ2eCMa). We are inviting the global community to bring forward great ideas that answer the question:

What software applications and digital services would you create to improve people’s lives?

Our goal? To improve the lives of one million people by 2020.

Up to 20 winning ideas will be chosen by an HPE judging panel and through popular vote, and will move on to have a chance to become real-world solutions. Ideas that integrate one or more HPE technologies will receive additional points. Through crowdsourcing, people around the world can team up to submit proposals outlining how these ideas can be executed.

Winning proposals will be developed into prototypes by software developers, designers, project managers and data scientists from HPE and the crowdsourcing community. Up to five solutions will be chosen to be built and deployed.

There are many chances to win prizes throughout the Living Progress Challenge:

- $1,000 prize for the most popular idea
- $5,000 in charitable awards for the first 200 ideas submitted ($25 per idea)
- $1,000 prize each for up to 20 proposals chosen to move on to the design phase
- $5,000 prize for the idea linked to the Grand Prize Winner
- Up to $10,000 in other special prizes

Interested? You can get involved in the Challenge today. Submit your great idea for how to help improve lives by visiting the [Living Progress Challenge website](http://hpsw.co/XZ2eCMa). Ideas are being accepted until Feb. 16.

Develop a proposal for your own idea or one that captures your imagination. Proposals that are submitted early will receive feedback from HPE that can help improve your chances to win. Just want to take a look? Browse through the ideas already submitted and vote for your favorite.

However you choose to take part, thank you for helping us to drive #LivingProgress. Together we can make a difference to millions.
