Similar to Symantec's [Volunteer of the Quarter](http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/making-everyday-mandela-day-how-symantec-employees-across-globe-are-taking-action-and-inspir-0) initiative, which highlights and rewards employees who dedicate their time and talents to those in need, our University Relations Team hosts an [Intern Volunteer Week Competition, July 19th through July 27th](http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/symantec-interns-give-back-first-annual-intern-volunteers-week). Symantec strongly encourages employees to volunteer in their local communities, providing volunteer resources and opportunities. **We believe that involved, engaged employees are happier and more satisfied, and that communities in which Symantec is located will be healthier and more vibrant because of our presence.**

During Intern Volunteer Week, interns took on the challenge and **volunteered over 100 hours** at various non-profit organizations such as the [Humane Society Silicon Valley](http://hssv.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=updated_home), [Food for Lane County](http://www.foodforlanecounty.org/en/), [Stanford Blood Center](http://bloodcenter.stanford.edu/), and various others mentioned below...
