 # Ingersoll Rand Played Key Role in U.S.-India Summit

Ingersoll Rand participated in the fourth U.S.-India Energy Partnership Summit, in Washington, D.C. on May 13-14. This year’s theme was “Stimulating Technology, Trade and Development”. Ingersoll Rand’s Venkatesh Valluri, chairman & president, Ingersoll Rand India, participated in the event. He discussed the opportunities to advance energy efficiency and ways to develop business between the U.S. and India.

Senior policymakers, CEOs of major corporations and leaders of research and academia participated in the event, jointly hosted by TERI-North America (TERI-NA) and Yale University. The summit featured an Eve of Hope reception with keynote speaker former Vice President of the U.S. and Nobel Laureate, Al Gore, plenary sessions, and detailed parallel tracks. As an associate sponsor of the event, Ingersoll Rand was able to demonstrate thought leadership and garner brand recognition in front of important business, non-government organizations and policymakers.

“I am pleased to join with global leaders to discuss critical energy issues pertaining to India and the U.S.,” Valluri said during the event. “Cooperation between U.S. and Indian companies is key to giving businesses a competitive advantage. We’ll focus on the increasing role sustainability must play in growing and emerging economies into the future, and the need to set goals and take action now.”

Virtually all of Ingersoll Rand’s product designs developed in 2012 focused on energy-efficiency. Operationally, Ingersoll Rand continually finds ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of its facilities. In 2012, the company reduced energy use, normalized by net revenue, by approximately 6.2% over 2011 and absolute energy use by approximately 5.7% overall.
