What can responsible businesses do to ensure that workers throughout the supply chain receive living wages? What are the implications of wage levels on the sustainability of communities around the world?

Join Matt Fischer-Daly, Senior Manager at Social Accountability International (SAI) for a discussion on Wednesday January 25 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (GMT -8) about how businesses can implement living wages in their global supply chains, and the role of certification standards such as SAI's SA8000®. As Senior Manager at SAI, Fischer-Daly manages SAI's development of the SA8000® standard and guidance, complaints management, and impact assessment. He also contributes to national and regional capacity-building programs to create enabling environments for labor rights. As part of the Webinar, Fischer-Daly will feature two case studies from Thailand and Honduras.   The one-hour Webinar is free to ISSP members and costs just $10 for non-members to participate.   SA8000® is an auditable certification standard based on international workplace norms of International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This standard is the benchmark against which companies and factories measure their performance. Those seeking to comply with SA8000® have adopted policies and procedures that protect the basic human rights of workers.   Fischer-Daly is an international economic policy and human rights specialist with six-years of experience working in international development programs. He has worked for over five years with SAI on capacity-building programs in CAFTA-DR countries, China and India. At SAI, he also manages SA8000® standard development and guidance, complaint management, and impact assessment and contributes to training and new program development. Prior to SAI, Fischer-Daly worked on development and international financial institutions with The Development Group for Alternative Policies (The Development GAP). He earned his BA from University of Michigan and his MA in International Economic Relations from the American University School of International Service.
