 # IKEA, Philips, Unilever find economic opportunity in tackling climate change

##### Companies join Ceres, White House representatives to discuss best practices and strategies during COP in Warsaw

 Nov 19, 2013 10:30 AM ET

WARSAW, POLAND, November 19, 2013 /3BL Media/ – On Wednesday, November 20 at 6:00 PM CET/12:00 PM EST, executives from IKEA, Philips and Unilever will join representatives of Ceres and the Obama Administration to discuss the economic benefits of tackling climate change at an event held in conjunction with the [2013 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change](http://unfccc.int/2860.php) (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) 19. Ceres will facilitate the panel discussion, where executives will discuss what their companies are doing to tackle climate change, how it presents a global economic opportunity, and why policymakers and the public must join them in taking action.

The panel brings to life a positive global trend: two-third’s of Fortune’s Global 100 have made commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase renewable energy use, or both. As more companies advocate for strong climate policies at the local, national and global level, it is essential that their corporate lobbying practices align with their internal sustainability goals. This concept is further explored in the *[Guide to Responsible Engagement in Climate Policy](http://www.unglobalcompact.org/docs/issues_doc/Environment/climate/Guide_Responsible_Corporate_Engagement_Climate_Policy.pdf)*, released jointly at COP 19 by the U.N. Global Compact, the secretariat of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the U.N. Environment Programme, the World Resources Institute, CDP, WWF, Ceres and The Climate Group.
