**Chevrolet Bolt EV is 2017 North American Car of the Year**   
Chevrolet Bolt EV is the 2017 North American Car of the Year. The Bolt EV’s recognition marks the fourth time in four years that Chevrolet has received the North American Car of the Year or Truck of the Year award, following the Corvette Stingray and Silverado’s wins in 2014 and the Colorado’s award in 2015.

General Motors engineers are diligently working to make vehicles lighter, focusing on customer needs and increasing vehicle performance. Ten recently launched Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles have lost an average of 350 pounds as a result, and these efforts help GM reduce its environmental footprint. The annual carbon emissions avoided from this weight loss is about equal to saving 28 million gallons of fuel.

General Motors is engaging its supply chain in actions to reduce emissions, mitigate the various companies’ effects on climate change and strengthen their overall business. GM asked about 200 of its suppliers to disclose their energy use and carbon emission data to CDP and offered up resources to help. The 70 percent of invited companies that responded reduced carbon emissions in total by 90 million metric tons, saving a cumulative $23 billion.

The rooftop garden next to General Motors’ Renaissance Center world headquarters wrapped up another productive growing season. Now in its third year, the garden – thriving from the landfill-free facility’s compost – resulted in 815 pounds of fresh produce, 150 jars of honey, and $3,546 in donations to a community shelter located across the street.

**Corporate-Driven Composting Means Big Reductions in Food Waste**  
Big companies become role models when they turn food scraps into compost, use it in their corporate garden, serve that produce to employees – and then compost scraps from those meals, beginning the cycle anew.

Buick’s all-new 2017 LaCrosse flagship sedan has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) highest five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety rating, giving Buick a NHTSA five-star sweep across its entire tested lineup of premium vehicles for the third consecutive year. Buick was one of only two brands in the industry to earn a five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety ratings on every model with its 2015 product line, and every Buick vehicle tested since has been rated at this highest level.
