CLEVELAND, June 23, 2016 /3BL Media/ -- On Friday, June 24, more than 650 associates of Forest City Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FCEA and FCEB), will participate in the company's 13th annual Community Day, a paid day of service benefitting non-profit organizations in many of the cities where the company has a presence. This year, associates from more than 65 Forest City locations will come together to provide assistance to charities and agencies in their respective communities.

The theme for Forest City's 2016 event is "growing together," which signifies the impact of associates' efforts in building upon the company's workplace culture and local community partnerships.

"Community Day is an opportunity for our Forest City associates to grow together and demonstrate our shared commitment to our core values, including community involvement and giving back," said David J. LaRue, Forest City president and chief executive officer.

Each year, associates at Forest City's regional offices and properties across the country select local organizations to serve on Community Day and then coordinate with those organizations to identify their needs. Efforts are guided by associates who serve as site organizers, working with the agencies and local vendors to ensure the projects are a success.

In the Cleveland area, for example, this year's Community Day will benefit Hospice of the Western Reserve (three area locations), The Centers for Families and Children, East End Neighborhood House, Urban Community School and West Park YMCA.

"Community Day is our signature associate event of the year," said Jeff Linton, senior vice president of corporate communication and community relations for Forest City and this year’s Community Day executive sponsor. “Helping to improve our communities and working together as a team goes hand-in-hand with our company’s dedication to creating exceptional places where people live, work and shop.”

Forest City also partners with other companies that provide supplies and materials needed to complete the various projects undertaken on Community Day. This year, those valued suppliers include Sherwin-Williams, Davey Tree and HD Supply, among others.
