 # As Federal Infrastructure Bill Presses for Sustainable Development, Black & Veatch Poised to Provide Expertise

Advanced by the U.S. Senate and now awaiting a House vote, a trillion-dollar infrastructure bill calls for hundreds of billions of dollars of direct federal spending to broaden electric vehicle charging stations, wind and solar energy generation, battery energy storage and the development of clean hydrogen fuels across the country. With all of these ambitions, century-old Black & Veatch stands ready to use its broad construction, engineering and procurement expertise to guide the development.

In a recent article in [International Construction](https://www.international-construction.com/news/Black-Veatch-building-for-the-future/8014460.article), with Randal Kaufman, sales director for Black & Veatch’s Transformative Technologies business, discusses the global engineering solutions leader’s potential in helping companies plan and execute projects funded by the infrastructure bill. Kaufman believes Black & Veatch’s experience in intelligent, decarbonized [transportation systems](https://www.bv.com/industries/transportation) and green infrastructure will be especially handy, given expectations by the bill’s proponents that it will stimulate growth in both areas. As the nation makes progress toward sustainability, Kaufman believes the measure provides great opportunity for forward-thinking projects.

“We can’t just build back what we have today. That’s already obsolete,” Kaufman told the publication. “We need to design for resiliency, greater sustainability and social equity.”
