Philadelphia, PA, February 26, 2014 /3BL Media/ – [Elsevier](http://www.elsevier.com/), a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today that four of its titles have been recognized in the *American Journal of Nursing* (*AJN*) Book of the Year Awards.

In the critical care-emergency nursing category, which recognizes publications that address patients in critical care environments and their complex acute and emergent care needs, Elsevier titles won two awards. *Pass CCRN!,* by Robin Donohoe Dennison, 4th edition, won first place in the critical care-emergency nursing category. This title mirrors the latest CCRN-Adult test plan and is known for its innovative learning strategies, targeted yet comprehensive coverage, and meticulous accuracy.

*Critical Care Nursing: Diagnosis and Management*, by Linda D. Urden, Kathleen M. Stacy and Mary E. Lough, 7th edition, placed third in the same category. This title is praised for its comprehensive coverage and clear organization and is the go-to critical care nursing book for both practicing nurses and nursing students preparing for clinicals.

In the information technology/informatics category, which includes content about nursing’s role and the use of electronic media, *Health Informatics: An Interprofessional Approach*, by Ramona Nelson and Nancy Staggers, earned a first place award. This first-edition title covers a wide range of skills and systems, preparing students for work in today’s technology filled clinical field. Topics include clinical decision support, clinical documentation, provider order entry systems, system implementation, electronic health record (EHR) adoption issues and more.

Finally, *Mosby’s Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions*, edited by Marie T. O’Toole, 9th edition, earned a second place award in the medical-surgical nursing category, which includes works presenting the complex clinical needs and comprehensive diagnoses of patients in various settings such as an adult hospital unit, home care or long-term care. This title is a one-stop reference that makes sense of the complex world of health care. It features more than 56,000 authoritative definitions, 45 appendixes, a color atlas of the human body and more than 2,450 full-color illustrations.

“We are honored by such prestigious recognition for our Elsevier authors and titles,” said Loren Wilson, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Education Content, Elsevier. “The Book of the Year awards from *AJN* validate our continued efforts to provide the best educational texts for nursing students.”

The *AJN* has published an annual best-of list in nursing publishing since 1969. The judges who review the submissions in the Book of the Year program are experts in their categories and select and write reviews of the top three selections.
