August 6, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Eastman Chemical Company was recently named by the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace, a non-profit corporation dedicated to enabling and encouraging Tennesseans to lead healthier lives. Workplaces may be recognized as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace after pledging commitment to health in the workplace and meeting other requirements that demonstrate commitment to employee health.

Eastman chief human resources officer Perry Stuckey said, “We want our employees to enjoy long and healthy lives beyond their active careers and well into retirement years. It’s nice to receive recognition as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace as a result of our efforts.” He adds, “I invite other employers to join us in creating a healthier Tennessee.”

Employers can become involved and get recognized through Healthier Tennessee’s Small Starts program. The engagement of workplaces in the Healthier Tennessee initiative is important because of the influence workplaces can have on employee health. Stuckey, who also serves on the foundation’s board of directors noted, “Eastman has invested in a comprehensive health and wellness program for many years, but with Small Starts it’s easy for employers of all sizes and experience levels to make a difference. The payoff is healthier employees, families, communities…and a healthier state.”

Small Starts resources for employers and individuals can be found at www.healthiertn.com.
