Johnson and Johnson has launched Healthy Future 2015, a five-year strategic roadmap for its citizenship and sustainability priorities. The plan extends the company’s commitment to address global health needs. It includes goals ranging from providing affordable access to HIV and TB therapies to donating medicines for treating intestinal worms. These targets follow guidelines of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
Fidelity Commercial Bank of Kenya has underwritten the cost of new water wells in two coastal villages to ease water shortages, and to ensure that more girls stay in school. Young girls had been leaving school to search for water, walking more than four kilometers every day to find clean water for domestic use. The new wells will also ease community friction over control of water points and livestock grazing areas.
