Global Impact announced the launch of the Relief and Development Accelerator Fund at last week’s annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting, The new matching fund aims to increase giving for worldwide health programs by supporting Global Impact’s alliance of 58 U.S.-based international charities. Qualifying charities are eligible to compete for $1.2 million in matching funds. Applications are open to all Global Impact partners.
The L'Oréal USA Fellowships for Women in Science Awards have been given to five of the country’s most promising female scientists. The 2011 Fellowship recipients are working on breakthrough scientific research in fields including stroke rehabilitation, therapeutic prevention for Alzheimer’s, and robotics that improve prosthetic fittings and functions. Each Fellow will receive up to $60,000 to continue their post-doctoral research. The L’Oreal awards program was created in 2003 to support the advancement of women in science.
