Dell has signed an agreement with the EPA to promote responsible recycling by electronics manufacturers. The agreement was made as part of an effort to create a national strategy for electronics stewardship to develop designs for electronics that are easily recyclable and environmentally friendly. Dell and the EPA will also collaborate to encourage electronics manufacturers to use only certified third-party recyclers.
The Innovation City Bottrop initiative in Saalbau, Germany has been joined by the GreenConServe project. Innovation City has set a goal of 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2020 within Bottrop, a city of 70,000 people. GreenConServe will help local transportation and construction small- and medium-size businesses become Innovation City Partners with sustainability training and funding through its government-funded voucher scheme.
