 # Companies Seek to Make Employee Commuting More Sustainable

One of the attractive perks that can motivate almost any employee is an easier commute. Companies that think about creating solutions to get workers to their location in way that minimizes driving are likely to have a competitive edge over others. Driving to work may not be the first choice of the millennials. If a company can support the commuting need of workforce in a more sustainable way, it will help the environment and also improve employee loyalty and motivation.

Google launched its own bus service in 2004 to shuttle about 150 employees from their San Francisco homes to the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA. Today nearly 60 percent of the company’s 11,000 Bay Area employees use the corporate fleet of 140 biodiesel-fueled buses to get to work each day. The shuttle program has managed to keep thousands of cars off the road.
