This year, two Chevrolet vehicles made the top 12 list. The [2016 Spark EV](http://www.chevrolet.com/spark-ev-electric-vehicle.html) ranked second and the [2016 Volt](http://www.chevrolet.com/volt-electric-car.html) ranked 11th, moving up 41 places from last year. ACEEE highlighted the Volt’s “significant increases in fuel economy and its new streamlined vehicle design.” The Spark EV features a lithium-ion battery for gas-free and tailpipe-emissions-free driving. With a total range of up to 82 miles between charges, the Spark EV gives you freedom without worrying about your charge. Averaging 128 MPGe city and 109 MPGe, the car has an EPA-estimated fuel cost savings of nearly $6,250 over five years, making it not only smart environmentally, but financially, too. The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Volt is sleek and sporty, delivering greater range, efficiency and stronger acceleration than its previous model. It’s an electric car with a backup plan, running on electric power until seamlessly switching to gas when the battery runs low. It has a range of up to 53 pure electric miles for an available total range of up to 420 miles with a full charge and full tank of gas. Chevrolet and GMC also placed on the “[Greener Choices](http://greenercars.org/greenest-meanest/greener-choices)” list. This list highlights vehicle models that are widely available, have automatic transmissions and are petroleum-fueled. The gas-powered [Chevrolet Spark](http://www.chevrolet.com/spark-fuel-efficient-car.html) ranked fourth, the [Chevrolet Trax](http://www.chevrolet.com/trax-small-suv.html) ninth and the [Chevrolet Colorado](http://www.chevrolet.com/colorado-small-truck.html)/[GMC Canyon](http://www.gmc.com/canyon-small-pickup-truck.html) 12th.
