Green-e Energy, administered by CRS, is the nation's leading independent certification and verification program for renewable energy products. WGES’s 50% and 100% CleanSteps® WindPower, green electricity products sourced from wind power from the local PJM electric grid, are available to all residential and small-commercial customers throughout the company's service territory in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. In 2011, WGES won a Green Power Supplier of the Year Award from the U.S. Department of Energy. CRS’s Green-e Energy program has nearly 300 participating vendors selling over 30 million megawatt hours of renewable electricity in retail transactions in 2011. The program provides independent, third-party verification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer-protection standards. Providers of Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements.
