As millions of children start to hit the books, companies are getting in the back-to-school spirit with [cause marketing](http://www.conecomm.com/cause-marketing) efforts. This year, companies are supporting a variety of causes from [bullying](http://www.sears.com/anti-bullying-teamup/dap-120000000283425) and [education](http://www.business2community.com/marketing/seven-years-back-school-cause-marketing-officemax-0596910) to [hunger](http://www.nokidhungry.org/blog/our-partners/2013/09/williams-sonoma%E2%80%99s-passion-food-and-community-fuels-year%E2%80%99s-share-our) and [child health and wellness](http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/easter-seals-and-the-cvs-caremark-charitable-trust-offer-free-back-to-school-developmental-health-screening-222495821.html) – all with the goal of equipping America's youth with the tools to succeed, both inside the classroom and out.

Here's a sampling of some of this year's back-to-school cause marketing efforts:

• [Office Max](http://www.business2community.com/marketing/seven-years-back-school-cause-marketing-officemax-0596910) is partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org for the seventh year in a row to bring "[A Day Made Better](http://www.adaymadebetter.com/)" to life. The campaign, rooted in the belief that teachers shouldn't have to spend their own disposable incomes on supplies for school, surprises 1,000 classrooms with $1,000 in school supplies. Consumers can nominate their favorite teachers or local schools through an online nomination portal.
