Nov, 12, 2013 /3BL Media/ - In recognition of Carnival Cruise Lines’ outstanding support of the port of Cozumel, Carnival Imagination Captain Andrea Viacava accepted the “Friends of Cozumel” award from the city’s recently elected mayor, Fredy Efren Marrufo Martin, marking his first official presentation as mayor.

The award was presented to Carnival Cruise Lines to acknowledge the company’s longstanding relationship with the popular Mexican port. Thirteen of Carnival Cruise Lines’ 24 ships will visit Cozumel this year, bringing more than 1.5 million passengers to the island.

Carnival Cruise Lines’ parent company, Carnival Corporation & plc, also operates the Puerta Maya Cruise Center in Cozumel, which includes a cruise ship pier, a welcome center and a variety of retail shops and restaurants.
