Safeway Volunteers in the Community

Our employees lead busy and active lives, but that hasn’t stopped them from giving more than 3 million hours of their time and energy since 2011. Our goal for 2014 is to give back another 1 million hours. In addition to our employees’ individual efforts, Safeway organizes company-sponsored volunteer activities.

Christmas Eve Feast: Salvation Army and Safeway Serve Holiday Dinner
Hundreds of people came together to enjoy a hot meal on Christmas Eve – that they may not otherwise have had this holiday. The Christmas Eve feast was meant to warm the hearts of those in need. This meal is provided by the Salvation Army and Safeway.

Safeway Raises Funds for AIDS Walk San Francisco
For nearly a decade, employees at Albertsons Companies’ Northern California Safeway office have participated in and raised money for the AIDS Walk San Francisco. This year, the team of Albertsons Companies’ corporate office and Safeway employees again supported the important cause. About 8,000 people participated in the 10K walk through Golden Gate Park.
