 # Caesars Entertainment Properties to Host CodeGreen Events In Celebration of Earth Day 2013

LAS VEGAS, April 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ - On April 22, Caesars Entertainment and its properties across the U.S. will once again observe [Earth Day](http://www.earthday.org/) to demonstrate the company’s commitment to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. Caesars recognizes problems facing the planet demand real action today and that awareness of these issues is a critical part of the formula for change. Many of Caesars Entertainment’s U.S. resorts and casinos will host [CodeGreen](http://www.caesars.com/corporate/environment-sustainability.html) events this month designed to encourage outdoor recreation and environmental conservation.

"Earth Day is an opportunity for our employees and guests to learn about environmental stewardship while enjoying educational and recreational activities,” said Gwen Migita, vice president of sustainability and community affairs at Caesars Entertainment. “While Earth Day is commemorated only once a year, our commitment to the environment, known as CodeGreen, is demonstrated through sustainable practices at our resorts every day.”

Every year, Caesars and its nearly 70,000 employees engage in sustainable business practices and environmental programs through CodeGreen, a comprehensive strategy that provides tangible low-carbon solutions to reduce water, energy and waste consumption at all Caesars resorts. Each property has a CodeGreen team that implements grassroots programs focused on enhancing energy efficiencies, reducing the impact on natural resources and improving waste streams at Caesars resorts and in their communities.

This week the eight Las Vegas resorts including Bally’s Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, The Quad, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will celebrate CodeGreen Week. Each day, the properties will host a series of CodeGreen Farmers Markets at locations throughout the city. Each property will also give away two [EnergyFit](http://www.energyfitnevada.org/) audits to promote energy efficiency at home. On April 20, HERO volunteers from the Las Vegas properties will renovate an outdoor courtyard for seniors at the North Las Vegas Care Center.

On April 22, HERO volunteers from Caesars Northern Nevada properties will join with the [Nature Conservancy](http://www.nature.org/) to build trails in the Sierra Mountain Range.

Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino will host a CodeGreen Day including a CodeGreen Farmers Market with sustainable vendors and a recycling center. Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino is also challenging its employees to test their sustainability knowledge at a CodeGreen kiosk at the casino.

Harrah’s Louisiana Downs will join with local community partners to host a CodeGreen “Shred It” event on April 22 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Individuals can have up to five boxes of documents shredded.

True to its grassroots heritage, Harrah’s Metropolis Casino’s CodeGreen team will engage employees and guests in a variety of family friendly Earth Day learning experiences at [Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge](http://www.fws.gov/refuge/cypress_creek/) and [Shawnee National Forest](http://www.fs.usda.gov/shawnee). Some of the activities include a make-your-own granola station, a planting project, coloring activities, rock painting, and fish and snake exhibits that allow children to touch the animals.
