The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) honored Booz Allen EVP Brad Medairy as the 2020 Cyber Executive of the Year.

"The global pandemic has heightened the importance of cybersecurity more than ever before. With virtual schools, workplaces, and healthcare, the attack surface has expanded at an unprecedented rate." -- Jennifer Taylor, president, and CEO of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC)

Each year, the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) recognizes leaders making substantial contributions to their company and the Greater Washington cybersecurity environment. In 2020—a year filled with unique cybersecurity challenges—the NVTC selected Booz Allen Executive Vice President Brad Medairy as its Cyber Executive of the Year.

A history of excellence on critical missions

During his nearly 25 years with Booz Allen, Medairy has supported a wide range of clients across the defense, intelligence, civilian, and private-sector industries. He currently leads a team of hundreds of cybersecurity professionals, artificial intelligence engineers, network engineers, software developers, data scientists, and business strategists. These cross-disciplinary teams are driving innovation in areas from zero trust for 5G networks to scaling up AI-based security solutions for sensitive weapons systems.

“Clients trust Booz Allen to support some of the nation’s most critical missions—the same missions that sophisticated threat actors want to disrupt,” Medairy said. “I am proud that our team has earned this trust over decades and continues to deliver results with dedication and excellence every day.”

Keeping the world ahead of emerging threats

“At Booz Allen, we are all about empowering people to change the world—and Brad is doing just that. Brad is a strong leader and incredible technical executive who is fostering a purposeful and persistent culture of innovation, meeting our clients’ missions, supporting and developing our phenomenal cyber talent, and living our firm’s values,” said Booz Allen Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer Susan Penfield.

Most recently, Medairy and his team of analysts developed forward looking analysis that anticipates risks and threats based on Booz Allen's deep technical expertise and work clients worldwide, helping to protect the entire industry. Recent reports in this area have included an examination of the opportunity and security considerations of 5G mobile technology, a deep-dive into the logic behind Russian military cyber operations, and a look at the cyber threat trends and threat landscape ahead in 2021.

"We are proud of the innovative work the NVTC Cyber Award winners are doing to protect our most critical assets, personal information, and national security," said NVTC President and CEO Jennifer Taylor.
