 # Banorte-Ixe Participates in the First Inclusive Walk/Run Race Held in Mexico

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) January 25, 2012 - The Bank participated in "Walking together toward a common goal” in which athletes with and without disabilities walked and ran towards the same finish line.  
  
Banorte-Ixe and its Foundation supported as an honorary sponsor the first Walk/ Run race entitled, "Walking together toward a common goal.” Convened by the Mexican Confederation of Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disability (CONFE,AC), the event raised awareness among Mexican society about those with disabilities.  
  
This family event has taken place for the last 10 years in over 70 cities in the United States, Puerto Rico and Australia. OnJanuary 15th, 2,700 athletes participated in the first Mexican event, held in Mexico City at the Autodromo HermanosRodriguez. The money raised from the event will be used to fund therapies for people with intellectual disabilities to help them work and achieve independent living.  
  
During the opening ceremony, Carlos Madrid Varela, Director of the Banorte Foundation said: "Transforming the lives of people with intellectual disabilities is the responsibility of all, their lives change if we provide opportunities for education, training and development, and above all if we treat them with dignity and respect."  
  
CONFE unites and coordinates the efforts of 160 Mexican organizations to influence public policy and create an inclusive culture throughout the country. CONFE’s mission is fully consistent with Banorte-Ixe’s Inclusive Program , which provides opportunities for talented people with disabilities to join the institution, and share their expertise and productivity in a non-discriminatory work environment.  
  
By supporting initiatives such as this inaugural race, Banorte-Ixe confirms its commitment to serve individuals, families andMexican companies, regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, sex, age, disability, social, economic or health status, pregnancy, language, religion, opinion, sexual orientation, marital status, or any other individual or group status or class.
