A standard drink contains 0.6 fluid ounces of pure alcohol, which is 1.5 oz of spirits (40% ABV), 5 oz. of wine (12% ABV), and 12 oz. of regular beer (5% ABV). But for people looking to drink responsibly and follow the guidelines, how can you ensure what’s in your glass is the size of a standard drink, and not more? Everything from glassware and the color of your drink, to where the glass is located while you pour, can affect the perception of how much you’re drinking.
