Wesco Anixter Donates Cable to Support Hands-On Electrical Training at Local College

As part of its Wesco Cares community engagement program, Wesco Anixter donated nearly 1,000 meters of electrical cable to In-Comm Training to support hands-on technical education for students and apprentices pursuing careers in the electrical industry. The donation strengthens practical learning environments by providing real-world materials for installation, termination and testing exercises. Delivery of the cable was generously sponsored by Maxi Haulage.

In-Comm Training supports learners and employers through technical training programs that build job-ready capability across electrical, engineering and manufacturing disciplines. Working with education providers and industry partners, In-Comm helps ensure training environments reflect the tools, materials and expectations students will encounter on job sites.

Wesco Anixter’s donation reflects its commitment to supporting local communities and developing the next generation of skilled electrical professionals. By supplying cable suited for workshop environments and training rigs, Wesco Anixter is helping In-Comm expand learning opportunities that prepare students for future employment.

“We’re proud to support In-Comm Training by donating cable that can be used to develop the next generation of electrical talent,” said Stuart Wyness, Director Sales U.K. Construction & Industrial at Wesco Anixter. “Providing access to real-world materials early in training is critical to helping apprentices build confidence, capability and readiness for on-site work.”

In addition to supporting education, the donation also reflects Wesco Anixter’s commitment to responsible resource management. Much of the cable provided to In-Comm Training would have been sent for recycling. This initiative helps extend the useful life of materials while helping reduce waste.

As demand for copper continues to grow, responsible stock management and reclamation practices play an important role. By redirecting usable cable into education, Wesco Anixter is maximizing material value while promoting recycling and circular economy principles.

“This donation will allow us to further support our learners’ development by giving them hands-on experience with a wider range of cable types and sizes than they would normally encounter at this stage,” said Simon Wood, Engineering Instructor at In-Comm Training. “Learners will have the opportunity to work with heavier cable reels and understand key handling techniques early in their apprenticeship, which is a vital step in becoming an electrician. Working with a local supplier is incredibly positive, and we are very grateful to Wesco Anixter U.K. for their support in helping us shape the future of the industry.”

About Wesco Anixter

Wesco International (NYSE: WCC) builds, connects, powers and protects the world.
Turning Awareness Into Action: DP World Champions Living Organ Donation

DP World recently partnered with The Kidney Foundation of Canada to turn a Vancouver Canucks game into a platform for purpose: hosting living organ donors in its corporate suite to raise awareness of the lifesaving impact of organ donation.

The event brought together 10 living donors as part of the Living Donor Circle of Excellence program, celebrating them and amplifying their stories beyond the healthcare setting. Attendees were recognized in-arena, including with a Jumbotron feature, while Kidney Foundation representatives engaged fans at the Canucks Community Corner to further raise awareness.

The evening marked the first time the Living Donor Circle of Excellence program was spotlighted at a Vancouver Canucks game, made possible through DP World’s support.

Adding a personal dimension to the evening, DP World’s Vancouver Senior Terminal Manager, Dan Cooke — a liver transplant recipient — hosted the suite, offering a meaningful reminder of the real lives connected to every act of donation.

“Having the opportunity to spend the evening surrounded by living donors was both humbling and very meaningful for me. The gift of organ donations saves lives every day, including mine. Having DP World join the Circle of Excellence is another great example of good that we can all do for our people and community,” said Cooke.

Dr. John Gill, nephrologist and founder of the Living Donor Circle of Excellence program, said: “We're here tonight to celebrate living organ donors and to recognize the importance of removing barriers so more people can give this life-saving gift. Supporting donors is how we make more transplants possible.”

From Awareness to Action

The Living Donor Circle of Excellence program, delivered in partnership with The Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Society of Transplantation and the American Society of Transplantation, recognizes employers that are helping remove barriers to living organ donation.

A key challenge for potential donors is financial: time away from work and lost wages during recovery can delay or prevent donation altogether. Members of the program commit to addressing this by providing at least 80% wage replacement during the recovery period.

In 2025, DP World joined the program, ensuring that employees who choose to become living organ donors continue to receive wages and benefits during their recovery.

Doug Smith, CEO of DP World in Canada, said: “Supporting our people means removing barriers when they choose to do something extraordinary. By ensuring employees can become living organ donors without financial strain, we’re not only investing in their wellbeing — we’re helping make more lifesaving transplants possible.”

Today, more than 220 employers across Canada and the United States participate, collectively supporting approximately 2.9 million employees.

A Growing Need and Opportunity to Act

The urgency behind these efforts is clear. The need for organs continues to outpace availability, with wait times for a deceased donor often averaging three to four years or longer. These delays can seriously impact a patient’s health, sometimes making them too sick for a transplant — tragically, some people die while waiting. In contrast, living donor transplants offer a highly successful alternative, with much shorter wait times and better long-term outcomes for the transplanted organ.

Advancing a Culture of Support

For many people living with kidney disease, a transplant offers the best possible path to improved health and quality of life, but access depends on both awareness and support.

By combining community engagement with employee-first policies, DP World is helping address both sides of that equation.

DP World’s efforts demonstrate how companies can use their platforms not only to raise visibility, but to actively support the people behind these extraordinary decisions —bridging awareness with action in ways that can ultimately help save more lives.

Learn more about the Living Donor of Excellence Program

Learn more about DP World’s impact in Canada

The Quiet Work: Commemorating 45 Years of the T. Rowe Price Foundation

Originally published by Baltimore Business Journal

By Raymone Jackson, CLU, MBA – President, T. Rowe Price Foundation and Head of Community Affairs
Mar 27, 2026

There’s a question I often come back to. Not in meetings or presentations, but in the quieter moments. On a drive through West Baltimore or my own neighborhood. After a conversation with a tenured nonprofit leader. In the space between what we plan and what actually happens.

What does it look like to stay?

Not to show up once. Not to write a check and move on. But to stay in a community, in a relationship, in the work long enough for something real to take root.

This year marks 45 years since the T. Rowe Price Foundation was established in Baltimore. And as I reflect on what that means, I keep coming back to that question.

The Foundation was founded in 1981 with a simple belief: A financial services firm should invest in the places and spaces where its people live and work. Not as charity. Not as obligation. As practice. As responsibility. One that is deeply intertwined with its mission and commitment to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Over those 45 years, the Foundation has contributed more than $204 million to communities, primarily here in Baltimore. But numbers only tell part of the story.

As president of the Foundation and as someone who has spent a career thinking about and advancing how institutions serve people, I’ve come to appreciate that the real measure isn’t the size of the investment. It’s the quality of the relationship.

One of the tenets of the T. Rowe Price Foundation is listening. We let what we hear shift what we do. This community-informed approach recognizes that the people closest to the work are best positioned to shape how resources are used and solutions are implemented.

In 2015, our principles were put to the test following the murder of Freddie Gray. We chose to listen. The Foundation team attended nearly 150 community discussions. They asked questions. They took notes. And from those conversations came the Foundation’s first place-based investment: a multiyear commitment to West Baltimore that focused on leadership, capacity, and financial empowerment.

That wasn’t a response. It was part of a movement.

In the finance industry, we talk about compounding, the way consistent contributions grow over years. The same principle holds in community work.

Our Capacity Building Program is a good example. Since 2016, it has engaged more than 13,000 individuals from nonprofit organizations across Baltimore. The program walks alongside leaders, helping them strengthen their organizations from the inside out. It’s not flashy or fast, but over time, it builds something durable.

DesignFest, our partnership with the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Neighborhood Design Center, is another. It connects pro bono designers and marketers with nonprofits that need help telling their story. More than 100 organizations have received in-kind creative support. For a small nonprofit trying to reach the people they serve, that kind of help can shift everything.

And Money Confident Kids, our global financial literacy program, now reaches families in the U.S., the UK, Australia, and Japan. Financial literacy is one of the most powerful tools we can put in a young person’s hands. When they understand how money works, they start to see different possibilities for their lives.

These programs and partnerships grew out of conversations with communities, T. Rowe Price associates, and clients about what was needed. And they endure because we stayed long enough to see them through.

Beyond our programs, last year, well over 400 of our associates served on nonprofit boards across the country. Forty percent of our global workforce donated or volunteered. Our associates logged more than 37,000 hours of volunteer service supporting nonprofit organizations.

That’s not a program. It’s ingrained in our culture. Our associates show up because they understand that their presence matters. And that understanding, passed along from one associate to the next, is part of our firm’s culture and legacy.

Throughout our history, we’ve seen neighborhoods change and young people grow into leaders. This work hasn’t gotten easier, only deeper and more focused.

The most meaningful investments don’t always look like investments at the start. Sometimes it’s a conversation. A convening. A workshop. A mentor sitting with a young person. A designer helping a nonprofit find its voice.

They look like people choosing to stay.

Baltimore has always been our home. This Foundation exists because T. Rowe Price believes in supporting the communities where our associates live and work. Not in theory. In practice. Every day. In small and large ways.

Forty-five years in, we’re still learning. Still listening.

Still here.

Raymone Jackson is the president of the T. Rowe Price Foundation and head of Community Affairs at T. Rowe Price. He champions and guides the firm’s community investments, inclusion, corporate communications, and sustainability strategies.

Ceasefire in Lebanon, but Humanitarian Crisis Continues

Contact media@actionagainsthunger.org for inquiries.

24% of the population continues to suffer from food insecurity.

More than 1.2 million people are displaced, including 390,000 children

Some villages do not have access to water, hospitals, or livelihood opportunities

15% of children aged 6 to 23 months in displacement zones are fed only milk — a serious nutritional risk

Action Against Hunger is maintaining and adapting its health, nutrition and essential services interventions to continue reaching the displaced population.

NEW YORK and BEIRUT, April 17, 2026 /3BL/ - Following the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, the humanitarian situation remains extremely fragile. Action Against Hunger warns that the cessation of hostilities has not brought immediate relief to the most vulnerable population, who continue to face displacement, massive destruction and a lack of access to basic services.

In the hours following the announcement, Action Against Hunger has observed very intense population movement with diverse patterns of mobility.

“Many people are trying to return to their homes, others are trying to return just to check on the condition of their homes, and others are unable to do so or decide to wait for fear of further displacement,” says Sonia Ben Salem, Action Against Hunger’s advocacy coordinator in Lebanon.

Currently, there are already more than 1,200,000 displaced people in Lebanon, including 390,000 children.

Action Against Hunger was already responding to needs before the ceasefire, so program activities are continuing, but there will be a shift in geographical focus depending on population movements.

Returning to destroyed homes

People trying to return home are finding themselves with nowhere to go.

“Many people are returning to homes that have been destroyed or severely damaged. Others cannot return because they live in areas declared high-risk, where clashes are still taking place,” explains Sonia. “The level of destruction in some areas is comparable to that in Gaza: entire villages razed to the ground, with no water, no hospitals, no means of livelihood.”

The primary need of the displaced population remains a safe and dignified place to stay, along with access to water, healthcare and other essential services.

A ceasefire does not eliminate vulnerability; the locations change, but needs remain

The ceasefire on its own does not reduce the population’s vulnerability or bring the emergency to an end. That is why our teams continue to adapt their response to new needs.

“It is not so much a question of changing what we do, but where we do it. The needs existed before the ceasefire and remain the same now,” explains Sonia. “We are adjusting our presence to continue reaching the places where people are moving to.”

Health and nutrition activities, which are vital for saving lives, remain a priority. It has been found that around 15% of children aged 6 to 23 months in displacement zones are fed only milk, posing a high risk to their health. Furthermore, 24% of the population faces acute food insecurity, a figure that has not decreased following the announcement of the ceasefire.

“A ceasefire does not restore homes, guarantee food or re-establish basic services. Vulnerability does not disappear overnight, and needs will persist for a long time if there is no reconstruction and restoration of public services,” concludes Sonia Ben Salem.

Action Against Hunger has been present in Lebanon since 2006, providing essential support to over 603,624 people in 2024. Currently, 112 members of the Action Against Hunger team are working in Lebanon.

***

Action Against Hunger leads the global movement to end hunger. We innovate solutions, advocate for change, and reach 26.5 million people every year with proven hunger prevention and treatment programs. As a nonprofit that works across over 55 countries, our 8,500+ dedicated staff members partner with communities to address the root causes of hunger, including climate change, conflict, inequity, and emergencies. We strive to create a world free from hunger, for everyone, for good.

Whole Foods Market Foundation Announces $1.5M To Fund Projects in Ecuador, Ghana and the United States

AUSTIN, Texas, April 16, 2026 /3BL/ - Whole Foods Market Foundation is excited to announce $1.5 million in funding across four transformative projects impacting over 32,000 people in Ecuador, Ghana and the United States. Throughout the year, the Foundation provides funding to help its partners improve nutrition and create opportunities for financial stability. Each project is community-led and designed to create lasting impact in communities worldwide.

These carefully selected programs represent Whole Foods Market Foundation's dedication to creating lasting impact through regenerative agriculture, financial inclusion for smallholder farmers, and transformative food education in schools. Learn more about each project below:

Aliados | Ecuador

Aliados connects small and indigenous smallholder farmers to responsible markets through regenerative agriculture. Aliados will use their Whole Foods Market Foundation $300,000 three-year grant to scale their bioeconomy enterprise incubation model from 1,805 to 3,000 smallholder farmers across Ecuador by 2028. The organization will provide regenerative agriculture training, business development support to farmer-owned bio-enterprises and capitalize their Revolving Fund with working capital loans that ensure farmers receive immediate payment upon harvest delivery.

Chef Ann Foundation | United States

Chef Ann Foundation is a nonprofit that empowers schools nationwide to transition to scratch cooking, so children are well-nourished and ready to learn. Their $600,000 grant will support two signature programs: the Salad Bars to Schools program (SB2S), which donates salad bar equipment and training to public schools to increase students' daily intake of fruits and vegetables, and the Healthy School Food Pathway Fellowship, a 13-month program that equips mid-level school food professionals with the knowledge and leadership skills to produce healthy, scratch-cooked meals.
LA Galaxy and City National Bank Expand Wildfire Recovery Efforts With New Mini-Pitch for Pasadena Youth

LOS ANGELES, April 16, 2026 /3BL/ - The LA Galaxy and City National Bank are building upon their existing partnership with the launch of a brand-new mini-pitch at Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School in Pasadena, Calif., bringing a purpose-built space for youth play to a community deeply affected by the 2025 Los Angeles-area wildfires. Developed in collaboration with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), and the City of Pasadena, the project is designed to create new opportunities for wellness and connection through soccer, while supporting the region’s continued recovery efforts.

The new mini-pitch will be unveiled on Friday, April 24, with an official ribbon cutting. Representatives and players from the LA Galaxy, City National Bank, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Pasadena Unified School District, the City of Pasadena and other community stakeholders will also be in attendance.

“This project speaks to what our partnership is all about – using the power of soccer to make a meaningful impact in the communities we call home,” said Tom Braun, President and Chief Operating Officer, LA Galaxy. “We’re proud to work alongside City National Bank to create opportunities for young people to connect, play and grow through the game.”

As part of these broader efforts, City National Bank – the LA Galaxy’s official bank partner–presented a $25,000 donation for new soccer equipment to Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School via the Pasadena Educational Foundation during the halftime presentation of its April 4 title night game with the LA Galaxy. Together, these efforts underscore the LA Galaxy and City National Bank’s shared commitment to investing in Los Angeles communities through their partnership.

“City National made an early commitment to help Los Angeles recover in the wake of last year’s wildfires," said Diana Rodriguez, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, City National Bank. "We’re delighted to unveil the first of three mini-pitches we plan to deliver in partnership with the L.A. Galaxy to the impacted communities, supporting them throughout the recovery journey.”

For the LA Galaxy, this investment carries added significance given the team’s long-standing connection to Pasadena. Having played its home games at the Rose Bowl from 1996 to 2002, the project represents not only a response to local needs but also a meaningful return to one of the team’s earliest home communities.

“This new mini-pitch is about giving our students a place where they can move, connect, and feel a sense of ownership on their campus. After the disruption our community experienced during the fires, having a space like this helps restore a sense of normalcy and belonging in their daily school experience,” said Arian Whitley, Principal of Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School. “We’re grateful to the LA Galaxy, City National Bank, the Pasadena Educational Foundation, the City of Pasadena and all of the partners who helped make this possible for our students.”

The mini-pitch unveiling coincides with the LA Galaxy’s weekend-long celebration of Cobi Jones and his legacy April 24-26, honoring one of the most iconic players in Galaxy history. Jones’ ties to the team and local community help make the project a meaningful part of the broader Cobi Jones celebration. Jones will be in attendance for the official ribbon cutting, and the unveiling will serve as one of the key moments leading into the Cobi Jones statue ceremony at 1pm on April 26, underscoring the Galaxy’s history as well as the enduring role that soccer can play in bringing communities together.

“To be part of this in Pasadena, a community that is so tied to the Galaxy and to my own development, is incredibly special,” said Cobi Jones. “Creating a space where kids can play, be active and enjoy the game firsthand - that’s what it’s all about.”

The Octavia E. Butler Magnet project will serve as the first of several planned mini-pitches that City National Bank, the LA Galaxy and the U.S. Soccer Foundation have committed to in order to expand access to safe, high-quality places for youth to play in communities impacted by last year’s wildfires.

“When communities face hardship, creating safe places for young people to play, learn, and connect becomes even more important,” said Ed Foster‑Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “This mini‑pitch will serve as a source of stability and joy for Pasadena’s youth as the community continues to rebuild. It is especially meaningful to do this while honoring Cobi Jones, a valued member of our Board and a longtime friend of the Foundation whose commitment to young people and to this region runs deep.”

This donation builds on Royal Bank of Canada’s and its subsidiary City National Bank’s jersey partnership with the LA Galaxy and founding partnership with the Galaxy’s home stadium, Dignity Health Sports Park. It is also part of the commitment both banks made to long-term wildfire recovery, which began with a $3 million contribution made in the immediate aftermath of the fires.

“We are grateful to the LA Galaxy and City National Bank for their generous investment in our students and community. This new mini-pitch and donation creates space for joy, connection, and healing," said PUSD Superintendent Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D. "In the wake of the Eaton Fire, safe spaces like this support our students’ physical and emotional well-being, helping them feel a sense of belonging and hope as they continue to thrive.”

ABOUT CITY NATIONAL BANK

City National Bank, member FDIC, is a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and the largest bank headquartered in Los Angeles with $99 billion in assets as of January 31, 2026. The development received a $1.75 million grant from FHLB Dallas through Wells Fargo to assist with development costs.

The $58 million complex was developed by Foundation Communities and the Austin Housing Finance Corp. adjacent to Norman‑Sims Elementary and includes 10 percent of its units that prioritize families experiencing homelessness.
Three Years of War in Sudan: the World’s Worst Hunger Crisis

Contact media@actionagainsthunger.org for inquiries.

Sudan is facing the worst humanitarian crisis currently underway. In a country with over 51 million inhabitants, more than half (33.7 million) need humanitarian aid to survive.

There are currently only three famines in the world, two of which have been declared in Sudan in less than a year. More than 21 million people face hunger every day in the country, a direct consequence of three years of armed conflict.

Action Against Hunger continues to respond in Sudan with its programs on nutrition, health, livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene, and protection against gender-based violence. Since the start of the conflict, we have supported nearly two million people.

New York, 15 April 2026 — Humanitarian needs are extreme in Sudan. In a small village where Action Against Hunger works, many women like Eisa* have gone months without being able to guarantee a daily meal for their families.

“We suffered greatly because we had nothing to feed our families,” said Eisa.

More than 33 million people in Sudan (over half the population) depend on aid to survive after three years of war in a country facing the world’s most severe humanitarian crisis.

Three famines declared worldwide: two of them in Sudan

Famine is an official declaration issued only in the most extreme food crises. Of the three famines currently declared worldwide, two occurred in Sudan (El Fasher and Kadugli in 2025), whilst other parts of the country face a significant risk of famine in the near future.

“More than 21 million people are suffering from acute hunger in the country. This situation is a direct consequence of the conflict, which is destroying markets, disrupting harvests, and blocking trade routes and the delivery of humanitarian aid,” says Samy Guessabi, Country Director of Action Against Hunger in Sudan.

Sudan’s displacement rate is double that of other crises

Sudan is experiencing the world’s largest displacement crisis: nearly 14 million people have fled their homes—more than 9 million within the country and 4 million to neighboring countries such as Chad and South Sudan. These figures are double those of other major current displacement crises, such as those in Syria (7 million displaced people), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (6 million), and Yemen (5 million).

“It’s not just about the numbers,” explains Guessabi. “Families are forced to move repeatedly, which disrupts treatment, limits access to food and healthcare, and increases the risk of gender-based violence.”

Added to this is the collapse of basic services across much of Sudan: around 80% of health centers and 60% of water systems are not functioning in conflict zones. Furthermore, obstacles to humanitarian access—insecurity, active conflict, administrative barriers, and difficulties with physical access—and insufficient funding pose significant challenges. The humanitarian response, which requires $2.87 billion, is currently only 16% funded.

Action Against Hunger in Sudan

Since the conflict began on April 15th, 2023, we have supported nearly two million people in Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile, White Nile, and Red Sea. We continue to run our programs on health, treatment of malnutrition, cash assistance, access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, and awareness-raising on sexual and gender-based violence.

Action Against Hunger supports women like Eisa with food security and livelihoods training, so they can learn about business management, food preservation, and processing. “We now sell onions, oil, okra and dried tomatoes at the market,” says Eisa.

As the conflict enters its third year, Action Against Hunger is making an urgent appeal to halt hostilities, guarantee the protection of civilians and safe humanitarian access, and increase funding to meet the extreme needs faced by millions of Sudanese people.

*Name changed to protect identity.

***

Action Against Hunger leads the global movement to end hunger.

NEW ORLEANS, April 14, 2026 /3BL/ - One year after awarding $3.5 million in grants to 65 nonprofit and community-based organizations, Impact 59 Powered by Entergy, the official Super Bowl LIX Legacy Grant Program, is delivering on its promise to build a lasting legacy. The program enabled participating agencies to serve more than 268,000 individuals and leveraged an additional $1.5 million in funding from other sources to benefit the Greater New Orleans region.

The program – a legacy initiative of the NFL managed by the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee, included significant donations from the NFL Foundation, Entergy, the New Orleans Saints, Ochsner Health, Venture Global, United Way of Southeast Louisiana, and the NOLA Coalition – has proven to be a catalytic investment, multiplying resources, empowering local organizations, and producing visible change throughout the 10-parish region.

“Impact 59 is proof the Super Bowl can be more than a game,” said Marcus Brown, Chair of the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee and Executive Legal Advisor for Entergy. “It can be a catalyst for opportunity, equity, and real change in people’s lives.”

A study performed by the United Way of Southeast Louisiana confirmed the funds have reached more than 268,315 individuals across 65 organizations, with many leveraging Impact 59 grants to secure additional funding and partnerships. Grant recipients used the funding to reach their specific programming goals including renovating facilities, purchasing essential equipment, expanding food banks and pantries, enhancing workforce training and providing life-changing services to the Greater New Orleans region.

“These results prove that when we say, ‘It’s what we do,’ we mean it,” said Jay Cicero, President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee. “Impact 59 Powered by Entergy is not only meeting urgent social needs today but laying the foundation for stronger, healthier communities long after New Orleans hosted its record-tying 11th Super Bowl on February 9, 2025.”

The Impact 59 portfolio reflects a comprehensive investment in the region’s future. The grants awarded through Impact 59 Powered by Entergy have been allocated to nonprofit organizations focused on programs that foster positive change in youth development, workforce training, education, health and wellness, and equity and inclusion. These organizations are receiving critical support for their efforts to improve lives in New Orleans and the surrounding parishes of Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington parishes.

Across the 10-parish region, Impact 59 grant recipients are translating investment into measurable results. For example, YouthForce NOLA engaged more than 1,300 students in hands-on learning through STEM Fests; Travelers Aid Society served 1,184 locals in need; NextOp placed 155 veterans into high-quality careers; Rebuild Together New Orleans installed 59 new roofs; Reconcile New Orleans enrolled 178 youths in workforce development training; and Second Harvest Food Bank distributed over 36,000 pounds of fresh food among other significant accomplishments by all partner organizations.

“The Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program ensures that the NFL leaves a positive community impact that endures long after the final whistle of the Super Bowl,” said Alexia Gallagher, NFL Vice President of Philanthropy and Executive Director of the NFL Foundation. “We are excited to see the positive results of the program so far and look forward to continuing to deliver on our promise to create a lasting philanthropic legacy across the New Orleans region.”

As the impact from the Super Bowl continues, the Host Committee and its partners reaffirm their commitment to leveraging the world’s biggest stage for the long-term good of Louisiana, New Orleans and the surrounding parishes.

“Impact 59 Powered by Entergy shows the power of what’s possible when philanthropy and partnership move in the same direction – real, lasting change,” added Michael Williamson, President and CEO of United Way of Southeast Louisiana. “In just eight months, we’ve seen investments multiply, organizations grow stronger, and families across our region feel the difference in their daily lives. On behalf of United Way, we express our sincerest gratitude to the host committee, Marcus Brown, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and all who made this extraordinary impact possible.”

About the New Orleans Super Bowl LIX Host Committee

The New Orleans Super Bowl LIX Host Committee, led by the New Orleans Saints and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, is responsible for planning, executing, and hosting the City’s record-tying 11th NFL Championship game on February 9, 2025. The funding will help local hospitals provide critical health services to the community.

Many U.S. hospitals in rural communities have been forced to cut or eliminate essential medical services due to financial strain. According to the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), more than 140 rural hospitals have closed in the past decade. The Alabama Hospital Association states that 84% of Alabama’s hospitals operate in the red, and nearly 90% of women living in rural areas are more than 30 minutes from a birthing center. Alabama’s Rural Hospital Investment Program (RHIP) tax credit is designed to address these challenges.

The Monroe County Hospital (MCH) in Monroeville, Ala., received $225,000. The D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton, Ala., received $225,000, and the Atmore Community Hospital in Atmore, Ala., received $50,000.

"Monroe County Hospital thanks Georgia-Pacific's Alabama River Cellulose for their investment through the Rural Hospital Investment Program. Thanks to operations and tax-credit incentives, investments like this help strengthen our financial foundation, stabilize operations, and ensure we can continue providing critical healthcare services close to home,” said Laura Harris, MCH’s public relations director. “This support preserves access to care for our community while strengthening the infrastructure and workforce needed to serve Monroe County for years to come. We are grateful for Georgia-Pacific's partnership in supporting rural healthcare."

“Atmore Community Hospital is grateful for Georgia-Pacific’s support through the Rural Hospital Investment Program. The tax credit allocation comes at an important time and will help the hospital strengthen its financial stability and support critical operational needs,” said Drew Citrin, Atmore Community Hospital administrator. “This investment will make a meaningful difference in helping the hospital continue its mission of providing excellent care to patients close to home. We appreciate Georgia-Pacific’s commitment to rural healthcare and its investment in the future of our hospital and the community of Atmore.”

Atmore Community Hospital in Atmore, Ala., received $50,000 from Georgia-Pacific’s Brewton operations. A part of the community for more than 50 years, Atmore Community Hospital serves Atmore and the surrounding communities. The facility and its healthcare providers work to provide the community with safe, quality care that exceeds all expectations.

Stacey Hines, administrator for D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Georgia-Pacific for their generous contribution through the Rural Hospital Investment Program. Their support is an investment not only in our hospital, but in the health and well-being of the entire community we serve. Their generosity helps us continue caring for our friends, neighbors, and families close to home, and partnerships like this strengthen not just our hospital, but our entire community.”
<img src="https://3blaws.s3.amazonaws.com/inline-images/rural-hospitals_Georgia-Pacific_041426_3.png" data-entity-uuid="774353d9-8fbb-421f-891f-c17ea744c069" data-entity-type="file" alt=" D.W. The funding will help with the hospital’s mission to provide quality healthcare services while treating patients respectfully and with compassion.
Georgia-Pacific partners with the communities in which it operates to create long-term value and support initiatives that protect the community’s health and well-being.

“Supporting our local hospitals is an investment in the people and families who make our community strong, and strong communities start with access to quality healthcare,” explained Wes Greeson, vice president, Brewton Operations. “This donation underscores our values and our responsibility to support organizations that care for our neighbors when they need it most.”

“Georgia-Pacific pulp and paper mills primarily operate in rural settings, and Alabama River Cellulose is no exception,” said Jeff Vermilyea, vice president, Alabama River Cellulose. “We see our rural setting—especially the workforce that comes from it—as a key strength. Giving back to the area that’s given so much to us was an easy choice. This donation helps our local hospital, Monroe Co. Hospital, continue providing our community access reliable, high-quality healthcare locally.”

Georgia-Pacific is a leading employer in Alabama, creating a combined 12,000 direct and indirect jobs, and more than $760 million in wages and benefits.
A Mother’s Mission To Protect Her Children Through Vaccination

Aisho’s Story

Aisho Abdi, a 25-year-old mother of three, always dreamed of keeping her children safe and healthy. She knew the dangers of measles (called “Jadeeco” in Somali) and wanted to protect her children from it.

Illnesses like measles are especially dangerous in communities where malnutrition rates are high because malnutrition and illness go hand in hand. When a child is malnourished, their immune system is weakened, and they face increased risks when ill. With measles, for example, malnutrition can aggravate Vitamin A deficiency, which is a key factor in causing measles-related blindness. Illnesses that should be relatively simple to treat can quickly become dangerous or have lifelong impacts for malnourished children.

Vaccination is one of the best protective measures malnourished children can have against health risks, helping to prevent recurrent illness and improve nutritional status. In Somalia, where an estimated 1.85 million children under 5 are expected to suffer from malnutrition between July 2025 and June 2026, increasing access to preventative measures like vaccination is critical for protecting the health of children.

Aisho had heard about vaccines and understood their importance, but she struggled to access them. Like many people in Somalia, Aisho lived too far from healthcare services to access them — the nearest clinic being 46 miles away.

Despite this, Aisho was determined. She managed to get two of her sons vaccinated in Kismayo, but not easily. It involved a long journey and high transportation costs that many families cannot afford.

Several years later, floods swept across the region where Aisho lived. She and her family made the decision to relocate to Kismayo for safety and better economic opportunities, but for Aisho, the move meant much more. In Kismayo, Aisho could give her children better access to education, food, and most importantly, healthcare.

“The most important thing I can give my children is protection,” Aisho said, holding her youngest daughter, Hawa, in her arms at the health center in Kismayo. Hawa was there to receive her measles vaccine—a crucial step for protection, since 98.3% of measles cases in Somalia occur among unvaccinated individuals.

The health center is run by Action Against Hunger through the Cross-Border Emergency Relief Project, funded by the French Embassy in Somalia. This project provides maternal and child healthcare, as well as clean water and sanitation services, to vulnerable families.

Aisho expanded her passion for keeping her children healthy and safe to action to support her broader community. She has become an Action Against Hunger volunteer, connecting parents in her community with health workers. At times, she brings children to the health facility herself. She speaks at community meetings, sharing her experience and encouraging other parents to vaccinate their children. Aisho’s efforts have inspired many, and she has become a role model in her neighborhood.

Improving Vaccination Rates in Somalia

Somalia has one of the lowest vaccine coverage rates in the world for a variety of factors, including limited access to healthcare, cultural beliefs, and misinformation about vaccines. According to a recent study, Somalia’s immunization coverage against six major childhood diseases —tuberculosis, diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, and measles — stands at only 30-40 per cent.

One of the greatest obstacles to both increasing vaccination rates and providing malnutrition treatment in Somalia is that access to healthcare can be limited. The Global Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster reports that nearly 40% of people in Somalia's Baidoa District do not have reliable access to a healthcare facility or have no access at all.

Action Against Hunger is the second largest Ministry of Health partner in Somalia, directly supporting 112 health units and 1,500 health workers, working to reach the most rural neighborhoods and get vulnerable populations the services they need. To spread word of the clinic and the services available, Community Health Workers go door-to-door, searching for children who have not received any vaccines. They particularly visit vulnerable areas, such as refugee camps and rural neighborhoods.

“They are always busy making sure no child is left behind,” observes Aisho.

Through Action Against Hunger’s program, more children in Kismayo are getting vaccinated. The availability of vaccines, the dedication of healthcare workers, and the commitment of mothers like Aisho are making a real difference. Step by step, they are building a healthier future for their children and their community.

Surpassing our original $88 billion commitment with $119.3 billion in capital investments, loans and philanthropic support, PNC expanded homeownership, small business growth and community revitalization initiatives in low- and moderate-income (LMI) communities nationwide.

“These outcomes reinforce PNC’s strategy to pair scale with intentional impact-directing capital to the neighborhoods that need it most,” said PNC Chairman and CEO Bill Demchak. “We are proud of our impact on the people and businesses in our communities, and I appreciate those of you who made this important work happen.”

Over the plan’s four years, PNC teams collaborated across the bank to widen the path to homeownership, steady small businesses and help to revive long-neglected communities. In neighborhoods from Pittsburgh to Phoenix, PNC delivered a cumulative:

$119.3 billion in total capital deployed across loans, investments and philanthropic giving, representing nearly 136 percent of commitment.

$79.7 billion in home lending, impacting more than 70,000 borrowers.

$19.4 billion in capital to support small business growth in underserved communities.

$20.1 billion in community financing loans and investments supporting affordable rental housing, commercial revitalization and economic development in LMI communities, including more than $644 million in loans and investments nationwide to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to support community lending.

Nearly $523 million in grants, charitable sponsorships and mortgage assistance supporting education, housing and economic opportunities and financial wellness.

The fulfillment of $1.5 billion to help meet community needs and advance economic empowerment.

Completion of 19 new branches and 25 remote ATMs in LMI communities, along with the launch of 10 mobile banking units primarily dedicated to servicing LMI communities.

In the plan’s final year, PNC delivered more than $33.8 billion in capital to catalyze investment in LMI communities including $23 billion in home lending, $5.9 billion in community financing loans and investments, $4.8 billion supporting small-business growth and $140.7 million in grants and charitable giving to strengthen communities across PNC’s footprint.

Stacy Juchno, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer

“Delivering and surpassing our $88 billion pledge demonstrates our ability to expand access and economic opportunities where they’re needed most,” said Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer Stacy Juchno. “Working together, we’ve shown what’s possible when capital, community partners and focused strategy come together to create opportunity and strengthen neighborhoods, particularly those that have been historically underserved.”

Although the four-year plan concluded in 2025, PNC’s commitment to maximizing impactful outcomes continues. Looking ahead, we intend to draw on insights and lessons from the Community Benefits Plan to deepen investments in housing affordability and neighborhood revitalization to meet growing national demand.

Aetna Collaborates With Community Organizations To Strengthen Access to Quality Care and Essential Resources in Central Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., April 8, 2026 /3BL/ - Aetna Better Health of Missouri, a CVS Health company (NYSE: CVS), announced that Aetna provided a total of $35,000 in funding to two community-based organizations in central Missouri to improve access to health care and support child and family well being. The donations support community programs that directly address persistent barriers to care faced by rural communities, including long travel distances for medical services, limited transportation options, and challenges accessing early childhood and family support resources.

“We’re committed to supporting the health of communities by collaborating with trusted organizations and advancing initiatives that address care needs,” said Dr. Michelle Bucknor, Regional Chief Medical Officer, Aetna Better Health. “By working together to reduce barriers like transportation and gaps in family support, we help connect individuals and families—especially in rural areas—to the care and resources they need to thrive.”

Expanding access to transportation in west central Missouri

Aetna provided funding to West Central Community Development Corporation to support New Growth Transit, a volunteer based driver program that provides free and safe transportation across west central Missouri.

Many residents in these rural regions must travel long distances for non emergency health care such as dialysis, chemotherapy and specialist appointments, as well as to access employment and food. In 2025 alone, New Growth Transit drivers covered more than 550,000 miles, with the average one way trip measuring 39 miles—most requiring round trip service the same day.

Funding from Aetna will support in-person volunteer driver training, including rider engagement best practices, vehicle inspections and program policy education.

“Our volunteer drivers often make the difference between a person getting the care they need or going without,” said Kelly Ast, Regional Mobility Chief Officer, New Growth Transit. “The support from Aetna helps us provide quality training and strengthen a program that so many rural residents rely on.”

Dean Kneller, a rider supported by the program, added, “Without New Growth Transit, I would have missed critical treatments. The volunteers don’t just provide rides—they provide people a chance to stay healthy.”

Supporting child and family well-being

Aetna also awarded funding to The Community Partnership, an organization dedicated to improving child welfare, maternal and child health and early childhood development outcomes across rural south central Missouri. The funding will support programs focused on parenting education, developmental support for children with disabilities and coaching for early childhood providers.

###

About Aetna Medicaid

Aetna Medicaid Administrators LLC (Aetna Medicaid), a CVS Health company, has over 30 years of experience managing the care of Medicaid members, using innovative approaches and a local presence in each market to achieve both successful health care results and effective cost outcomes.
