Campaign: Think Blue.
Volkswagen's Think Blue. It’s about being more responsible on the road and more environmentally conscious – not just in its cars, but everywhere, every day.

January 15, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce its newest partnership with The Surfrider Foundation to support Volkswagen’s Think Blue. initiative. Together, Surfrider Foundation and Volkswagen of America, Inc. will encourage individuals across the country to make positive changes in their lives to ensure our nation’s oceans, waves, beaches and waterways are clean and healthy for future generations to come.

As part of the support of the Surfrider Foundation’s Clean Water initiative, which strives to educate the public on improving water quality, Volkswagen of America, Inc. is contributing more than $100,000 to the organization, along with two support vehicles. A 2013 Jetta SportWagen TDI and 2013 Touareg Hybrid will be covered in Surfrider Foundation branded wraps to be immediately identifiable at education, community and social events the organization attends.

“For Volkswagen, sustainability is a fundamental part of our brand, and we are committed to not only reducing our own environmental footprint through more fuel efficient vehicles and environmentally friendly operations, but also encouraging consumers to do so,” said Kevin Mayer, vice president marketing, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “We look forward to joining the Surfrider Foundation in its mission to educate the public about environmental issues that affect our nation’s coastline.”

Local chapters of the Surfrider Foundation will be attending various Volkswagen events to educate car fans on the Clean Water initiative. One of the largest events will be the Treffen 15 tour this summer, where VW owners will participate in beach cleanups and other Surfrider Foundation activities.

“We are thrilled to team up with Volkswagen and have their generous support,” says Laura Lee Surfrider Foundation’s Director of Marketing & Communications. “Think Blue. embodies Surfrider Foundation’s mission through empowering individuals to take simple actions in a fun, engaging way that add up to make a big difference.”

Think Blue. embodies Volkswagen’s goal of creating environmentally friendly products and solutions, encouraging more eco-conscious behavior and contributing to a sustainable future. It’s about being more responsible on the road and more environmentally conscious – not just in its cars, but everywhere, every day.
