Village of Pinecrest Launches a Community JustGreen™ Carbon Offset Program
Pinecrest Municipal Center is the First Local Facility to Go Carbon Neutral
Pinecrest, Fla., April 15, 2013 –JustGreen, a Just Energy Group Inc. (NYSE/TSX: JE) brand, together with the Village of Pinecrest, Florida, are excited to announce the launch of the city’s first Carbon Offset Program. JustGreen Lifestyle and JustGreen Business Advantage offer home and business owners with unique solutions to reduce their pollution output/carbon emissions through the purchase of carbon offsets.
Pinecrest has already taken the first step towards a greener community by purchasing carbon offsets for the Pinecrest Municipal Center that match the facility’s pollution/carbon emissions produced annually and is equivalent to 1,117,428 lbs. of carbon emissions, which is equal to taking 99 cars off the road for one year or planting 1,200 trees. This makes Pinecrest the first municipality in the State of Florida and one of the only cities in the US to offer a volunteer carbon offset program.
“The Village of Pinecrest is dedicated to ensuring a better quality of life and a greener and cleaner environment for our residents and future generations. Neutralizing our greenhouse gas emissions through carbon offsets and investing in emission reduction projects is just one of the many ways we are working towards meeting our Green Action Plan goals,” said Cindy Lerner, Mayor of the Village of Pinecrest.
“Pinecrest residents and businesses are encouraged to participate. By ‘going green’ they will help to fund Pinecrest initiatives such as solar panel installations and environmental education planned for the community facilities, parks and schools,” adds Lerner.

Generated from emission reduction projects, the carbon offsets through JustGreen will also help contribute to the municipality’s goal of reducing its overall greenhouse gas emissions of 7% below 1996 levels by 2014.
