KFC South Africa, a Yum! Brands company, won the Bronze Lion award at the Cannes Film Festival for the documentary style “Journey of Hope” video of extreme adventurer, Riaan Manser’s, trek across the country.  Manser bicycled 4,100 kilometers from Cape Town to Johannesburg in 2012, helping generate R12.6 million (1.2 million USD) for hunger relief.

The Add Hope campaign was also voted the country’s “Coolest Community Program” for 2013 at the Generation Next Awards and named Campaign of the Year at the 2013 PRISM Awards, South Africa’s signature public relations award event.

“The ‘Journey of Hope’ is a great example of how the Add Hope initiative has allowed customers to give back in their own way to hunger relief in South Africa,” said Lauren Turnbull, KFC South Africa’s Manager of CSI and Sponsorships.

Add Hope will feed an estimated 6 million people in 2013 through its 80 affiliated relief organizations and has raised R127 million (12.6 million USD) for hunger relief since its inception in 2009.
