Union Pacific's Houston Latino Network Chapter Donates to Local Shelter

Union Pacific Railroad's Latino Employee Network (LEN) Houston chapter recently contributed toiletries and donations to the Casa Juan Diego shelter for families living at the facility.

Union Pacific employees helped address the organization's pressing need for personal care items, collecting hundreds of toiletries as well as a $500 cash donation.

In addition to distributing food and clothing to approximately 300 people every week, Casa Juan Diego comprises 10 houses that shelter up to 100 individuals, ranging from victims of domestic violence to seriously ill immigrants. The organization is funded entirely by voluntary contributions.

Union Pacific's Latino Employee Network is one of eight employee resource groups within the company.  LEN's mission is to recruit, retain, and advance the careers of Latino employees within Union Pacific by developing members both in personal and professional growth.

LEN is highly committed to helping Latino communities. Efforts include translating for Spanish speaking parents enrolling their children in kindergarten, supporting local clubs and community organizations.  LEN also conducts fundraising activities to support its scholarship program for high school seniors and college students. promoting education and careers at Union Pacific.
