Yesterday, Tent Partnership for Refugees and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation held the first North American Business Summit for LGBTQ Refugees, where they announced that multiple organizations including Scotiabank have committed to mentoring LGBT+ refugees over the next 3 years.

The business community has a vital role to play in helping LGBT+ refugees overcome potential barriers they face in gaining employment, accessing mentorship, and settling into their new homes, which is why Scotiabank has joined this collective commitment.

Scotiabank has also committed CAD $500,000 to The 519, one of Canada’s most prominent LGBT+ community centres and service-providers, to activate on this important partnership. The 519 will work to pair mentees in communities across Canada with Scotiabankers to gain valuable mentorship experiences, supporting them in building their futures.
