Campaign: Sanofi US

Memorial Day, a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of every May, honors members of our armed forces who have died after serving and protecting our nation.

Sanofi values and respects service members. Committed to hiring veterans and providing them a support network, Sanofi US is proud of all its employees do to support our military. Built on the shared experiences and affinity for our military veterans, the Sanofi US VETS Employee Resource Group (ERG), provides additional resources to veterans and their families. An example of the VETS ERG commitment is the planning of an annual Memorial Day remembrance.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017 Sanofi’s VETS ERG held its Memorial Day tribute at Sanofi Genzyme Center in Cambridge, MA, while simulcasting the event to its Bridgewater and Swiftwater sites. With approximately 500 people in attendance, this event honored Army Staff Sergeant Matthew Pucino, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) of the Maryland Army National Guard. Pucino perished on November 23, 2009, while serving in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.  Pucino, originally from the Boston area, was chosen to be memorialized in the form of a canvas painting with the support of the Sanofi Foundation for North America and in collaboration with The American Fallen Soldiers Project (AFSP). This was the 4th time Sanofi  partnered with AFSP for this type of portrait presentation.  Phil Taylor, artist and founder of AFSP, along with his wife Lisa Taylor, were onsite to present Pucino’s portrait to his family, who were also in attendance.

Perry Jefferson, VETS ERG Outreach and National Director, USMA  at Sanofi US, who was an integral part of the Memorial Day tribute, reflected on the service,  “It was an honor for me to participate in such a moving and touching Memorial Day event remembering a Fallen Soldier, Son, Brother, Uncle and Hero.  This is a wonderful way to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and I'm thankful that my company supports such a fantastic organization – The American Fallen Soldiers Project.”

Thank you to generations of Americans serving our country in the United States Armed Forces.  Your commitment and sacrifices will never be forgotten.
