(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) NEW YORK, NY—MONDAY, MAY 16, 2011—Recyclebank®, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions, today announced it has expanded its partnership with Allied Waste Services of Elyria, a Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG) company, to bring its rewards-for-recycling program to three new Ohio municipalities of North Ridgeville, North Olmsted and Bay Village. The addition of these new cities marks the expansion of Allied Waste’s two-year partnership with Recyclebank in the region and introduces even more residents in Ohio to this innovative recycling initiative.

The program begins today and with the expansion, Allied Waste expects more than 25,000 new households in Ohio to have access to new 65-gallon recycling carts and recycling rewards. With Recyclebank, Allied Waste subscribers earn points each time they recycle—similar to a frequent flyer program, only residents earn points for being green instead. They can use those points to “shop” at Recyclebank.com for rewards like discounts and deals from local and national businesses, including local favorites such as Mulligan’s Family Fun Center, Donatos Pizza, Recess, Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop, and Grateful Dog Bakery. National brands include The Coca-Cola Company®, Ziploc®, Unilever, Bed Bath & Beyond, Dick’s Sporting Goods and hundreds more.   “Allied Waste and Recyclebank provide North Ridgeville, North Olmsted and Bay Village residents with everything they need to start living in a more environmentally friendly way—and getting rewarded for their actions,” said David Kidder, municipal services manager at Allied Waste. “By providing residents with a means of recycling, we are confident that the majority will take the opportunity to make an impact on the environment.”   “Allied Waste has been a valued Recyclebank partner, helping to expand our program and services to cities and towns committed to improving their community through green actions,” said Atul Nanda, vice president and general manager at Recyclebank. “We’re excited to expand our partnership and provide North Ridgeville, North Olmsted and Bay Village residents with the tools necessary to reap the benefits of recycling, have a real impact on the environment, and earn valuable rewards to support their local businesses—to the benefit of everyone in the community.”   The new program also brings with it weekly collection and the switch to single-stream recycling, in which all recyclables go into one cart—no more sorting. Allied Waste accepts #1 and #2 plastics, plastic milk and detergent jugs, glass bottles and jars, steel and aluminum cans, newspaper, cardboard boxes and other paper products. To earn rewards for recycling, North Ridgeville, North Olmsted and Bay Village residents must register for a free account with Recyclebank and verify their home address. They can do so online at www.Recyclebank.com.   ABOUT REPUBLIC SERVICES, INC.
