National Grid employees from Massachusetts and Rhode Island participated June 17 in the annual Veterans Inc. Stand Down at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 69 Grove St. in Worcester, Mass. In addition to volunteering at the event, employees raised more than $4,000, which the company matched. In total, the company presented Veterans Inc. with an $8,000 donation.

This was the fourth consecutive year National Grid participated as a sponsor, provider and volunteer group. The company’s Veterans Employee Resource Group helped support the event. Veterans Inc. has one of the nation's highest success rates for transitioning veterans out of homelessness. They have assisted 60,000 veterans since 1990 and operate in six New England states. National Grid volunteers assisted the day of the event, and helped veterans with answers to questions about bills, energy efficiency programs, and more.
