Orlando City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart Accepts $5,000 Grant on Behalf of Love Pantry from Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation

Commissioner Stuart joins Sodexo executives taking time out from the company’s annual conference to stuff 2,000 food backpacks for Second Harvest Food Bank’s Hi-Five Kid’s Pack Program

GAITHERSBURG, Md. September 28, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Sodexo, the world leader in Quality of Life Services, held its annual North America Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida this week, pouring more than $1,000,000 into the local economy for its week-long event. Orlando City Commissioner, Robert F. Stuart of District 3 attended on Tuesday to receive a $5,000 grant for Love Pantry, which provides emergency food for Central Florida’s Orange Public County School students in need. The commissioner also helped stuff 2,000 food backpacks for Second Harvest Food Bank’s Hi-Five Kid’s Pack Program.

Recently, Sodexo was recognized by the United Way with the Community Volunteer Excellence Award for supporting the local community.  That support included serving meals at the Daily Bread community kitchen and leveraging Sodexo's environmental services expertise to clean the facility's floors, donating items collected by Sodexo volunteers at food drives and contributing their time to the Love Pantry project, as well as preparing and donating full box lunches to allow the center to stay open during an emergency repair.

“Sodexo has a large footprint in Central Florida. We have a lot of business here and many employees that call this community home so, it’s important for us to give back,” said Robert Stern, chair, Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation. “With nearly 29 percent of children in Florida District 3 being at risk of hunger, we welcome City Commissioner Stuart to Sodexo’s North America Leadership Conference where we would like to present him with 500 food backpacks and a $5,000 grant for the Love Pantry, which provides emergency food for Orange Public County School students in need.”

Further living out its commitment to philanthropy and corporate responsibility during its leadership conference, Sodexo volunteers packed more than 500 care packages for troops stationed throughout Afghanistan. Those packages ship out to troops today. The company also held a fundraising Fun Walk/Run with proceeds benefiting Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation to fight child hunger across the U.S. It raised more than $48,000
