Through the Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign, Amway is providing Nutrilite™ Little Bits™, a micronutrient powder, to thousands of malnourished children ages 6 months through 5 years old.

Working with CARE and other partners, Amway distributes Nutrilite™ Little Bits™ to families participating in nutrition programs that include food, education and ongoing measurement of children’s growth.

“We are experiencing exciting growth for the Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign this year,” says Jeff Terry, Manager, Amway Global Corporate Social Responsibility. “Ultimately, this is helping malnourished children and their families, building the Amway reputation and enabling our Amway Business Owners to make positive first impressions. It’s a great example of how we can use our expertise to make a significant difference in the world.”

An ambitious new goal: 5 million servings of Nutrilite™ Little Bits™ by the end of 2016
After 18 months of success, the Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign is ready for more growth. In September, Amway announced the above commitment to support the United Nations’ global strategy for women’s and children’s health, “Every Woman, Every Child.” This is an important step forward in the fight against childhood malnutrition and is expected to benefit at least 14,000 more children and families next year. The goal was off to a great start with a Twitter chat on World Food Day in October.

Where will the campaign go from there? The long-term plan is for Amway to provide Nutrilite™ Little Bits™ to hundreds of thousands of malnourished children in 20 countries by the end of 2019.

Amway delivers new information about global malnutrition
Because malnutrition is often misunderstood, Amway partnered with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to create an interactive map that shows its impact all over the world. The map demonstrates how malnutrition can affect people long-term and how it is related to obesity, another devastating condition. Amway Chairman, Steve Van Andel, introduced the project at an event in Washington, D.C., in March and the results have been fantastic. Amway got global press coverage, hosted an event filled with nutrition influencers and held a Twitter chat that drew millions of participants. The creation of this map is part of their participation in the United Nations’ “Scaling Up Nutrition” movement, which is an international effort to end malnutrition in all its forms.

Amway Founders Council members now lead the fight against childhood malnutrition
To increase awareness of childhood malnutrition among Amway Business Owners, the Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Leadership Circle was introduced to Founders Council, Amway’s highest achieving Business Owners, during a meeting in May. The Leadership Circle is exclusive to Founders Council members and 71 of them accepted the invitation to actively support the campaign. These leaders are now inspiring their distributor groups, hosting fundraisers and helping people around the world learn more about malnutrition and how to get involved.

A number of Founders Council members also experienced the benefits of the Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign in person this year. During trips to Ubajara, Brazil and Zambia they helped deliver Nutrilite™ Little Bits™ to children and families, visited Non-Governmental Organization partners and shared their experience with their teams.
