The annual award is given to a company that has successfully implemented a safety project for its fleet that focuses on original tools and programs to improve the safety of its drivers, while taking into account optimizing Total Cost of Operations.

Nalco has implemented a variety of safety programs for its fleet of company cars in Europe resulting in driver safety improvement in key metrics including reducing Total Vehicle Accidents and Severe Vehicle Accidents. These programs include:

  • Implementation of monitoring devices in all cars to provide instant driving coaching,

  • Selection of cars for the fleet based on safety,

  • A car policy that encourages safe driving by enabling free upgrade to a premium vehicle,

  • Proven safety culture in practice including no cell phone use while driving,

  • Mandatory behind the wheel and defensive driver training.

Neil Aspinall, Global SHE Safety Manager, EAME (Europe, Africa and Middle East) and Cedric Millet, Nalco Senior Procurement Manager Indirects & Services for EAME,  worked together to implement these expanded fleet safety programs.
