Municipal Credit Union to Bring Technology, Financial Literacy Seminars to Brooklyn Generation School

WHAT:        
Municipal Credit Union (MCU) brings technology (including iPads) to Brooklyn Generation School. This support will help the school's 300 students and 30 teachers better prepare for STEAM focused fields, as well as enhance their classroom education experiences. After the technology is revealed, MCU executives will lead financial literacy presentations for the school's students and also participate in a job and career panel as part of the school's Visiting Professionals Day.

Interview opportunities will be available with Brooklyn Generation School Principal Lydia Colón Bomani, Generation Schools Network Co-Founder and Chief Learning Officer Jonathan Spear, and select teachers and students from Brooklyn Generation School.

ABOUT:    
MCU's donation and on-site financial literacy seminars are one of the "100 Acts of Kindness" being conducted during 2016, the credit union's Centennial year. During this year, MCU is conducting 100 Acts of Kindness to give back to the communities it serves. MCU became aware of Brooklyn Generation School's need through a unique partnership between the Generation Schools Network and CBS EcoMedia's EducationAd program. Today's program is also part of Brooklyn Generation School's larger intiative to transform itself into a one-to-one computing campus, which makes technology more accessible to students, brings technology into classrooms, and expands its blended learning model where classroom instruction is supplemented by web-enhanced instruction.
