The 6th annual Time Warner Cable STEMfest took place Nov. 7 & 8 at Milwaukee’s Discovery World and more than 7,000 young people attended, a new event record, and 15% increase from last year.
The project was organized by Dave Borchardt, Community Investment Manager, and Joseph Zuniga, Events Specialist, for Time Warner Cable, who worked with the Girl Scouts Wisconsin Southeast, Discovery World, and other local Milwaukee partners.
STEMfest featured hands-on STEM exhibits from 12 of Milwaukee’s STEM leaders, including Lakeshore State Park, Wisconsin Destination Imagination and Rockwell Automation. The free admission event marks the most ethnically diverse and highest attendance day, according to Discovery World’s CEO, Joel Brennan.
Time Warner Cable employee volunteers greeted everyone as they entered STEMfest. Guests enjoyed hands-on STEM activities, including learning about the science of Video Games from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The school's Game Development Crew joined TWC employee volunteers to teach students the science of how video games are made. All participants received a free video game related photo, courtesy of Time Warner Cable.
