This year 12 teams representing Goldcorp mines in Canada, Mexico, the United States, Guatemala, and Argentina gathered in Reno, Nevada to compete in the company's inaugural Mine Rescue Summit. Each team, made up of 6-8 members, performed in various underground and surface mine rescue simulations with the common goal of promoting shared learning across the organization and encouraging cross cultural communication and collaboration. Although the attendees spoke many different languages, there was a strong sense of camaraderie and sharing of valuable knowledge that took place as all participants were there for a common reason— to train in case of an emergency. Irrespective of market conditions, Goldcorp's focus on safety remains unwavering.  Here are some highlights from the week.
