PALM SPRINGS, Calif., February 27, 2019 /3BL Media/ – Nearly 200 corporate citizenship leaders from 110 enterprise companies participated in a volunteer bike build benefiting 120 children in foster care in the Palm Springs area last evening.

The event, organized by Benevity in partnership with Together We Rise, took place at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa where the group transformed the fifth fairway of a golf course into an outdoor workshop. Participants included corporate responsibility leaders from companies such as USAA, Paypal, Accenture, Sage, Airbnb, RBC Royal Bank and many more who traveled from across Canada, the U.S. and U.K.

“Making an impact in local communities and around the world is second nature for the incredible people in our client community who are leading in the social impact space,” said Sona Khosla, VP Marketing at Benevity. “Our global enterprise clients come together each year in Palm Springs to celebrate successes, discuss challenges and brainstorm ideas that will shape corporate Goodness in the year to come. This year, we’re excited to partner with Together We Rise to bring joy and a sense of ownership to local children in the foster system by building 120 bikes.”

“Together We Rise is honored to have Benevity as a partner,” said Gianna Dahlia Executive Director of Together We Rise. “Benevity’s ability to cultivate so many unique opportunities to contribute is beautiful. With over 400,000 children currently in foster care, it is imperative that we as a community continue to join together in support. We are humbled by the commitment to Goodness demonstrated by Benevity’s corporate citizenship leaders and impressed by their hard work and kind hearts.”

The assembled bikes were picked up by representatives from Sheltering Palms Foster Family, a division of California Family Life Center, and are now being delivered to children in foster homes throughout the Palm Springs area.

“The agency is very grateful to Benevity and Together We Rise for these bike donations,” says Janie Castillo, Recruiter at Sheltering Palms Foster Family. “Many of our foster children have never owned a bike growing up, receiving their bike will really bring joy and smiles to their faces.”
