Invesco Cares Donates $54,000 for Student Technology and Supplies
In a school year like no other, Invesco Cares chapters have stepped up with Operation Backpack to help students thrive despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Since August, Invesco Cares chapters across North America have donated a collective $54,000 to 11 schools and nonprofits benefiting local students. Each market received $6,000 to donate to organizations of their choice to support basic technology and school supply needs for children in communities Invesco operates.
“Access to technology and school supplies has always been a vital need in underserved areas but is especially critical when the majority of schools have moved to virtual learning due to the pandemic,” said Kellie Schonberg, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for Invesco. “We focused on schools where we could be most impactful by supplying technology devices so that students could participate in their classes.”
Invesco Cares selected the following organizations in their markets:
- Atlanta: CHRIS180 (At Promise Center)
- Dallas: Forest Lane Academy
- Downers Grove: Tutoring Chicago & Metro Squash
- Houston: Thomas Hancock Elementary School
- New York City: Global Community Charter School (Harlem, NY)
- Palo Alto: Allendale Elementary (Oakland, CA)
- San Francisco: San Francisco City Impact & Bay Area Women’s and Children’s Center
- Prince Edward Island: PEI Public Schools Board
- Toronto: Yonge Street Mission
