Huntsville-Area Resident Patrick Wynn Receives 2013 “Maytag® Dependable Leader” Award

Award recognizes Boys & Girls Club professionals and volunteers who exemplify leadership and dependability with $20,000 grant for their club

HUNTSVILLE, AL, JAN 2, 2013 – Maytag® brand and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) announced that Patrick Wynn has been named a “2013 Maytag Dependable Leader” in recognition for his demonstrated commitment to dependability and dedication to keeping youth on the path to achieve great futures.

Patrick Wynn was selected as one of 25 nominees to receive the distinction and a $20,000 financial award to help deepen the impact in the community. The grant will further extend Patrick’s respective focus with the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama to continue and enhance his demonstrated commitment to helping youth achieve great futures.  He intends to use the one-time grant to continue programs that keep the community and youth safe.

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama
Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama has 13 sites in two counties, and is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2013. On average, each day, the Club provides services and programs for 856 youth, of which, this past year, 99.5 percent matriculated to the next grade or graduated. The first nine weeks of the school year, 66.5 percent of the Club’s youth were on the A/B honor role. On average, the Club serves 14,269 healthy snacks per month. In total, the Club currently has 2,231 enrolled members, and its outreach programs include inner-city sports, mentoring, and the arts. The Club serves more than 5,000 youth each year.
