Hunger Month Tweetup: #C4Gchat

By Allison McGuire

The statistics are scary: 1 in 5 kids in America is hungry. That means 16 million kids don’t get enough to eat and are attending school on empty stomachs.

In September—aka Hunger Action Month—companies and nonprofits alike are honoring this cause through awareness campaigns, food drives, and employee volunteering. We’re hosting a Tweetup on the subject with some great guests.

Campbell’s Soup – In 2011, the ‘Not Just a Pretty Label’ food company committed $10 million over 10 years to create the Campbell’s Healthy Camden Initiative. By focusing on access to food, nutritional education, and awareness building, Campbell’s is building public will to combat hunger and childhood obesity. Community Affairs Manager Amanda Bauman will be joining us via @Amanda_Bauman. The CSR team will chime in through @CampbellCSR.

Share Our Strength – Through giving access to food, providing education on food budgeting, and spreading awareness about the hunger epidemic, Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign seeks to end childhood hunger. Though our partner nonprofit will be knee deep in their Dine Out Week, they will tune into the conversation via their No Kid Hungry Campaign @nokidhungry.
