OAKLAND, Calif. and GENEVA, Switzerland, April 3, 2017 /3BL Media/ — GreenBiz Group and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) will collaborate on the 2017 “GreenBiz 30 Under 30” recognition, honoring emerging leaders in sustainable business, the organizations announced today.

The alliance is conducting a global search, just launched, to identify and honor a diverse group of young men and women “who are tackling some of the toughest sustainability challenges in business, from inside big companies, at the helm of startups or in the nonprofit sector,” according to the online submission page.

“This alliance brings the vast resources and networks of both organizations to shine a light on promising twentysomething professionals who stand to influence their organizations in adopting sustainability strategies, practices and business opportunities,” said GreenBiz Group Chairman and Executive Editor Joel Makower. “They are setting the bar for what it means to be a sustainability leader in the 21st century.”

GreenBiz and WBCSD have collaborated in the past, notably at the COP21 conference in Paris in 2015, when GreenBiz Group livestreamed globally a WBCSD member meeting for the first time, and more recently this year, when WBCSD convened a member meeting at GreenBiz 17 in Phoenix in February.

“Sustainability leadership from young professionals is critical for successful business, and this is an excellent way to recognize the talent, passion and commitment that young people bring to their work," said WBCSD President Peter Bakker. "As our consumers, investors, employees and leaders, young professionals are defining the future of global companies. We are proud to collaborate with GreenBiz to celebrate their leadership and amplify their voices.”

Nominations for “GreenBiz 30 Under 30” can be submitted online. Individuals can nominate themselves or others. The sole requirement is that a nominee not turn age 30 before June 5, 2017, when this year’s list will be published on GreenBiz.com.
