Engine Testing Helps Power GM Engineering Center
Engineers at General Motors’ Pontiac Engineering Center are powering parts of the facility with excess energy produced from testing engines.  Since Pontiac began the energy efficiency project following a 2008 renovation, the facility has regenerated more than 26.7 million kilowatt hours of energy to power internal processes. This is the equivalent of the electricity consumed by 2,326 U.S. households in one year.

2012 Chevrolet Volt Cleared for California’s Carpool Lanes
A low emission model of the 2012 Chevrolet Volt electric car are on their way to California, where customers will qualify for a $1,500 state rebate and be allowed to drive solo in the state’s carpool lanes.

Cruze Diesel Will Build on GM’s Euro Expertise
The 2013 Chevrolet Cruze diesel will leverage global powertrain expertise that has helped make GM’s fuel-efficient diesel engines popular options around the world.  GM sold more than half a million diesel-powered cars across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America last year, including 33,000 Cruzes. The introduction of a diesel option for Cruze – one of the top-selling gasoline-powered cars in the United States in 2011 – is expected to fuel GM’s diesel car sales success.

First 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco Customer Takes Delivery
Jeneise and Talfred Hunt of Romeoville, Ill. took their 2009 Malibu Hybrid to Advantage Chevrolet in Bolingbrook for an oil change this week and instead became the first customers to purchase the all-new 2013 Malibu Eco midsize sedan.  The new Malibu Eco is priced less than a full hybrid vehicle with a suggested retail price of $25,995, including a $760 destination charge.

Sensor Fusion Enables Cadillac Safety Advancements
The all-new 2013 Cadillac XTS, the most technologically advanced production car the luxury brand has ever offered, introduces an advanced active safety and driver assistance system. The U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute, one of the most powerful nationally and internationally recognized Latino organizations in the country, presented the “Corporate Visionary Award” to Alma Guajardo-Crossley, Director of Diversity Initiatives for General Motors, during the Corporate and Community Leadership Awards Dinner at the 30th National Conference of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute in Chicago.

GM Partners with the United States Leadership Institute
General Motors announced a partnership with the United States Leadership Institute (USHLI) at the organization’s 2012 National Conference, the largest cross-generational Hispanic conference in the nation, attracting high school and college students, young and mid-career professionals, and senior citizens. The partnership includes a GM vehicle donation consisting of a Buick Verano, the luxury brand’s newest sedan, to help raise funds for the institute.
