Booz Allen people are known for their passion—and it’s not limited to delivering for clients. In 2014, when the firm challenged employees to volunteer 100,000 hours in honor of its 100th year in business, one team went above and beyond and had a nationwide impact.

It started in 2012, when two Booz Allen colleagues from the firm’s health market drafted a community service plan for their team. A year later, the effort grew to 13 members and spearheaded fundraising that generated more than $25,000 for five not-for-profits. By 2014, Booz Allen’s centennial year, the grassroots effort had grown into a market-wide employee-led campaign named The Brains And Hearts (BAH) Campaign—a statement of what makes the firm great and a nod to our BAH New York Stock Exchange symbol. They set an ambitious goal: 10,000 volunteer hours in a single year for a 1,200-person team—a 10 percent share of the firm’s goal. They did that, and so much more.
