(3BL Media) Shanghai, China – June 26, 2012 – Ecolab (NYSE: ECL) and China’s State Food and Drug Administration Institute for Executive Development (SFDAIED) are again partnering to conduct food safety training that aligns with the recent introduction of China’s five-year food safety plan and reaches workers within the country’s food service industry.

Food safety experts from Ecolab and SFDAIED are together conducting food safety training for large, state-owned restaurants and food service providers throughout the cities of Beijing, Wuhan and Baise to strengthen operational standards, promote proper food safety practices and increase public awareness of the importance of food safety.

“Ecolab is well recognized for our food safety expertise, and we are committed to sharing our knowledge and solutions to advance China’s food service industry,” said Tim Wang, senior vice president and general manager of Ecolab Greater China.  “This food safety training program reflects our commitment to helping improve food safety practices within the industry and bolster consumer confidence within China.”

The food service industry training program focuses on several key areas of food safety, including personal hygiene, proper equipment and facility operation, cleaning and disinfecting processes and pest control techniques. SFDAIED expects more than 700 food service industry personnel to participate in the training program, benefiting more than 150,000 consumers.

In 2011, Ecolab played a strategic role in SFDAIED’s implementation of key government regulations and fundamental safeguards to help ensure food safety within China’s food and beverage industry.  Ecolab helped SFDAIED establish a public service training program, identify food safety experts, reinforce food safety practices within food and beverage operations, strengthen employee awareness of food safety and enhance the country’s overall level of food safety management.

Ecolab entered the Chinese market in 1987, and is a leader in providing innovative solutions to help China’s food-related businesses strengthen food safety practices.
