CAMPAIGN: Eastman Corporate Responsibility

CONTENT: Press Release

November 16, 2015 /3BL Media/ - In the fall of 2014, a team of volunteers conducted a waste audit at the Kingsport site, home of the company’s corporate headquarters. As they waded through more than 1,000 pounds of waste, they discovered a major improvement opportunity when it comes to recycling at Eastman.

As a result, on Earth Day this year, Eastman’s corporate sustainability team in partnership with our facilities teams and several employee volunteers transformed the existing recycle bins around the site into new “single-stream” recycling receptacles. With new labels on all common area and personal recycling bins, the bins originally used for only paper or bottles can now receive all of that and more! The program sought to greatly increase our recycling rate while also reducing waste to landfill and the associated costs.

After five months of implementation, the site has seen a marked increase in the recycling rate 66% by weight from May to September. At Eastman, we hope to continue this success long into the future with the help of all of our employees.
